forward lines that make sense
Assuming everybody is back and healthy:

Perreault Koivu Ward
Ryder Ribiero Zednik
Bulis Juneau Dackell
Sundstrom/Langdon Kilger Begin

Offensive lines each have at least one hard-nosed player.

Koivu has speed on his left wing and Ward to finish on his right. Both wingers are solid defensively.

Perreault takes the draws relieving Koivu of a chore he is not too good at, then moves over to wing where he belongs.

Checking line is solid...3 skilled defensive players.

Fourth line is extremely physical...especially with Langdon in the line-up.

Perreualt will build up good stats being fed by Koivu. Then deal him and promote Bulis to his spot...and Sundstrom moves to the third line.

Audette is the odd man out. The team is better without him.

I think Bulis should play with Koivu and Ward.

Bulis has shown blazing speed this season but with Juneau and Dackell passing the puck to far in front or way behind him he can't get anything going.

if you ask me our lines should be

Bulis - Koivu - Ward
Hossa - Ribiero - Zednik
Ryder - Perrault - Audette
Kilger - Juneau - Dackell/Begin/Langdon/Sundstrom

Just my two cents, but those lines look awesome!!

Based on what I've seen so far (could change)...

Ryder - Koivu - Audette
Hossa - Ribeiro - Zednik
Bulis - Perreault - Sundstrom
Kilger - Juneau - Ward

Dackell, Langdon/Begin

Ribeiro-Koivu-Zednik: A lot of creativity, + a goalscorer.

Ryder-Perreault-Audette is effective, Ryder is "energize" the two others.

Bulis-Juneau-Dackell: A defensive line, Bulis seems more comfortable in a defensive role.

For my 4th line, I think that Hossa should be try at center, Jason Ward can bring intensity and he is a good pass option to Marcel Hossa.

Those look good, but I'd rather see Ryder and Ward trades spots.
Just my opinion.

I thought juggling the lines was something you did when the team is playing poorly. We're playing well, so if it ain't broke, don't fix it. We have three lines that look fine as they presently are:

Hossa, Ribs, Zed
Ryder, Perreault, Audette,
Bulis, Juneau, Dackell

People are complaining about Hossa because his stats aren't what they want them to be. Well, he's doing the work in the corners and along the wall. Leave him there. I don't agree with putting Perreault, the best faceoff man in the league, on left wing. Leave him at center. Bulis can skate like the wind, but has trouble finishing, leave him where he is.

Kilger played well with Koivu before. Put Chad (when he returns) with Saku and Ward, . Begin, Sundstrom, Langdon to be used as needed.

Kilger, Koivu, Ward
Hossa, Ribs, Zed
Ryder, Perreault, Audette,
Bulis, Juneau, Dackell

Roll four lines, with equal playing time, and have the more talented players receive additional ice time on the PP.

Change things when the team falters. We have an entire season ahead for that. But right now, change for the sake of change just doesn't make sense to me.

Geez guys, we're winning. 17 goals for and 9 against, in 6 games. What's wrong with that?

I watched the Detroit game again and Audette was chirping and buzzing the whole game, so I take back my previous comments and I would keep him in there for now.

Perreault sucked in the last Toronto game. I didn't notice him against Detriot (which is a good thing I guess).

Ryder - Koivu - Audette
Hossa - Ribeiro - Zednik
Bulis - Juneau - Sundstrom
Begin/Langdon - Kilger - Ward

Dackell, Langdon/Begin, Perreault

My two cents. There has been a lot of talk about what to do with the lineup when Koivu comes back, and rightfully so, but really there is probably only ONE line that should remain together, and that is Hossa, Ribeiro, and Zednik.

This team is not playing great, although the winning record. They beat up on a pathetic Washington team, were lucky to beat Pittsburgh, played an out of synch leafs team once, and the other time they looked very bad, and didn't play that well versus Detroit. The "if it ain't broke" concept is something I don't buy. The winning record seems to be blinding people.

The Ryder, Audette, Perreault line looked pretty good the first few games. They haven't done much since, and Ryder has been the only noticeable player on that line.

Our checking line has played well, but Bulis compliments Saku very well, and his speed, defensive play, size, work along the boards, and good offensive ability is needed on our top lines, especially when you must fit Audette on one of them. Plus Koivu and Bulis had chemistry last year, and were the only consistent offensive force down the stretch.

The fact is there are a lot of guys who are passengers on the forward lines right now. Audette, Perreault, Ward, Sundstrum have either played very bad or terribly inconsistent. Changes to the lineup are coming when Koivu is in game shape, and not without merit like some are suggesting.

Audette is tha odd man out ...and i agree 100% with Nash13 post .

The logical player to be moved here is Perreault. I like Perreault because to guy took less money to play in Montreal and has did pretty well here. He cares about the patch on the front of the jersey not the name on the back. But him and Quintal another player I like in Montreal their days are numbered.

Koivu could move into Perreaults spot

Ryder Koivu Audette
Hossa Riberio Zednik
Bulis Juneau Dackell
Langdon/Kilger Begin Ward

Moving Perreault just seems to make everything easier. But I would hope scores lots of goals where ever he goes!

tinyzombies 10-23-2003 02:05 PM

I think they better keep their promise to Kilger too and let him center the 4th line. They've already been messing with this guy since we acquired him as it is.

KOMO_ROCKS 10-23-2003 02:45 PM

here's my view of a healthy lineup for the habs when some players I think will be traded:

Bulis Koivu Ryder (speed, grit, playmaking and scoring)

Hossa Riberio Zednik (great chemistry, enough said)

Ward Higgins Dackell (the making of a very good checking
line...important for Higgins to play in getting experience in the nhl)

Kilger Begin Langdon (crash, bang, tough fourth line!)

Markov Rivet (work well together, though i dont like Rivet)

Briesbois Hainsey (Breezer is playing good d now and Hainsey has been improving this season compared to last season)

Souray Quintal (Phyiscal duo...Q-ball's final year with the habs probably....Souray is a ROCK on d!)

Theodore (back in form of 2 seasons ago...hope he can contine)

Garon (solid backup in the nhl, who will push Theodore to be better probably)

Langdon Higgins Begin(are probably just going to rotate in the lineup when every is healthy....Gainey definately needs to create some room for these guys by trading some of the higher priced guys like Perreault, Audette, Sundstrom and Juneau (about 9 mil combined)

All times are GMT -5. The time now is 09:58 PM.
