Erat

What's your take on this guy? What kind of potential do you think he has or has he maxed out? I've noticed his play has gotten better over the past little while.

There is little chance that he has maxed out. His greatest asset also has been his downfall-- the ability to hold onto the puck. He is much better recently at doing something with it after holding onto it. He has a sniper shot and has good passing skills. Too often he has been guilty of skating with the puck for 20 seconds around 4 opposing players....only to wind up 15 feet further away from the net and having missed several shot/pass opportunities because he was watching the puck the entire time. If he is passive, then he isn't nearly as good. I think his defense is solid-- somewhat short of spectacular but not a liability.

In summary, he can be substantially better by (1) looking, (2) shooting more or looking for a pass, and (3) playing with an edge.

who will be more productive in the next 2-3 seasons upshall or erat points wise??

WHOOOWEEEE, That's a good one. I can see both of them on the team. They are both quick. Upshall showed Saturday night he's not afraid to put it on the net. Erat, can control the puck. He needs to shoot a little more. I think he might be one answer for that wings style of keeping a team out of it's offensive zone. Let him bring the puck on up ice. We miss Legwands ability to do that. They are pretty similar players. I like both of them. I expect that Upshal MIGHT come out on top. After all, Erat has been playing for a while and has not met early expectations yet.
