A couple of years ago I downloaded a song called "Rangers theme", a few years later completely at random I was at a friends house and he had a punk compilation called "short songs for short people". It's a bunch of songs performed by vasious artists each ranging from 30-60 seconds. On it is that exact same song performed by the misfits (the new ones without Danzig)... check it out, it's obviously not what you're thinking of but...

"I want to be a New York Ranger! I want to live a life of Danger!"

i think they also played simply the best as well, which was the 94 victory song in the same way that sweet caroline is this teams song. other than that, it seemed like they were playing a lot of film scores, like gladiator during that broadcast.

The true name of the song

that is now known as "the rangers victory song" has been around since I went to my 1st live game in 1963, is the Broadway Blues, i.e. the NYRs use to play off broadway at the old garden on 8th avenue and 50th-49th streets.

I am convinced that "that" song is a David Bowie song - if we are talking abt the same one. The rangers usually play it before the 1st per starts and is like a 2 min guitar intro. If I had a few days to go thru Bowies song catalog I could figure it out.

The song is "Stay".

Years ago their official theme song was Love Is Blue by the Paul Mariat Band (I think). Great instrumental.

Hi all.

What is the deal with the Garden playing Sweet Caroline (and having the crowd finish the chorus)? Reminds me of college.

nyrmessier011 02-21-2006 04:12 PM

don't forget tina turners "simply the best"!!!!...and also don't forget sweet caroline.

kickice 02-21-2006 05:18 PM

this is vague - as I only remember 2 words of it :D BUT, what is that song they play before the game starts, and the only words I remember are "C'mon c'mon".

I don't even know if this is one you are talking about in this thread!

I know thats not much to go on! But it's a great song. I heard it each time I was in the Garden late January/early Feb this year, when I was over for some games. I think they played it before the teams come out.
