Perspective

I figured I'd compile some perspective from the beginning of the year... NY has really impressed.

I laughed when I first saw the topic I didn't bother posting in it.

That first Leaf thread is HILARIOUS!!! :biglaugh:

Amazing how so many were killing this team at the beginning of the season, casting aside anyone who showed hope as crazy.

yea agreed, when people saw we signed Jason Ward, people had him in Hartford, looked how good he turned out. If he can get some hands over the summer, and get a centre with passing skills, maybe sign Chris Gratton for a year, he has size and can help, he can get 20.

"Rangers finishing ahead of Toronto? You GOT to be kidding me" :sarcasm:

Yep, I knew you were always a positive one in the bunch.

Wow a lot of people picked Buffalo as a huge bottom feeder, even below us. What's up with that? Did I miss something? They almost made the playoffs last season.

The most notable "locks" to miss the POs were the Rangers, Buffalo and Carolina. :biglaugh:

"If you're saying "I predict that Pittsburgh will miss the playoffs" thats one thing but if you're saying "Pittsburgh is as bad as Washington or Buffalo" then you're flat out wrong."

This one had me giggling!

pld459666 02-24-2006 08:03 AM

This one I thought was pretty funny

It came from Motfly27

"If you were asking me to bet the balance of my mortgage and life savings on the fact that these teams aren't sniffing the playoffs I'd only come up with 5:

1) Capitals
2) Rangers
3) Hurricanes
4) Sabres
5) Wild (only because of their Div)

I think everyone else has a shot"

Dude is broke, and scrambling, at the moment

well it did seem crazy! i remember saying that basically everything would have to go right for the rangers to do well. the forwards would have to instantly gel and be led by a resurgent jagr (and get timely secondary scoring as well), the defense was going to have to play beyond its ability since it doesn't look too good on paper, the goaltending had to be great from the start, and all the young players had to step in and play well...and all that stuff happened.

it just seemed like too much to go right at the beginning of the year. that first game against philly had me reconsidering though...

shoothepuck 02-24-2006 03:21 PM

Loved the "locks" to miss the playoffs.

Posts: 395 2 years ago Jagr wasnt the Jagr of Old - ie with Pittsburgh, last year when he went to Russia he started playing like that again , and was again considered the BEST player in the world, I think in Jagrs mind hes determined to play like that again and carry the team, 100+ points isnt out of the question that being the case, so a little confidence is good, in the end i belive the team needs good chemistry and if hes serious he will be among the elite in scoring , if not the top.
