my first(and last) Comrie Proposal

I like Eric Brewer.
He has extreme potential, but I think he wont hit it here. He does seem to have lost his desire. (maybe needs a change of scenery)

With this in mind, which of you would be upset at a major deal involving Carolina, the centerpieces being:

Eric Brewer
Mike Comrie

for

Danil Markov
Jeff O'Neill

(give or take some players, picks to balance out the spreadsheet)
If something like this were to happen, I would not be too upset with Kevin Lowe.

Markov 2.7 million

O'Neill 3.7 million.

VS

Brewer 2.5 million

Comrie ?

Good trade for the Oilers IMO, O'Neill would be a nice sniper beside Hemsky. Markov is a good young D as well, but thats really the problem, Brewer is a good young D-man too. The Oilers need a more experience top two man, but those are hard to come by.

How about this (my first Comrie proposal - be gentle):

Comrie

for

Ribero, Souray

Yikes... are we that desperate for a trade?

Ah yes. Posters that say no to a trade proposal and don't back it with a reason.

I do realize that we all think as Comrie as having a market value of someone who's won the Conn Smyth trophy, but he hasn't. If Souray can stay healthy, he's a very good defenseman. Ribero is an offensive player stuck in Mtl defensive trap system. Maybe Edmonton is giving too much, but this deal ins't totally absurd.

Personally, i like it. You give up Eric Brewer, which might be a little hasty, but the guy hasn't proven anything in the last year and doesn't seem to care anymore, for a guy that you could put on your top line with smyth and reasoner (reasoner's lack of scoring would be made up by smyth and o'neill, while he is good on the draws), and all of a sudden, you have a top line that rivals vancouver's first line, with talent like hemsky, moreau, and torres left over for the second line.

Plus Carolina is not going to just give a guy like o'neill away for nothing

Brewer has played a few games under his potential. I dont think that the Oilers should give up on him. I do like the idea of having a true first line but on your second line..........who is goping to play centre? you have two lw-Moreau, Torres, and on rw-Hemsky.

I wasn't saying that would be the second line, just that those guys wouldn't have to play on the first, therefore solidifying our depth on offense. of course you could try a rita or whoever at centre and figure things out after
