All Star Game 2007 - Texas Size
The National Hockey League, in conjunction with the Dallas Stars and American Airlines Center, announced on Monday, January 23 that the Dallas Stars will host the 2007 NHL All-Star Celebration, January 22-24, 2007, at American Airlines Center and venues throughout the area. The 55th NHL All-Star Game will be played at American Airlines Center on Wednesday evening, January 24, 2007. The arena will also hold the NHL SuperSkills and the YoungStars Game on Tuesday, January 23. There will also be a Monday All-Star event at American Airlines Center, with planning currently in its infancy stages. More details on the Monday event will be announced at a later date. This will mark the first non-weekend NHL All-Star events since 1989 when the 40th NHL All-Star GAme was played in Edmonton on a Tuesday. The All Star Game that will be coming to Dallas in the 2007 season will be the 10th All Star Game all time in the State of Texas and the first for the National Hockey League. The game will follow the traditional East vs. West format, rather than the North America vs. World format that was used from 1998-2002.
Dates To Know -
January 22nd, 2007 - Special All-Star Event
January 23rd, 2007 - Skills Competition
January 24th, 2007 - All Star Game
Stars fall 1-0. Get shut out for the first time this season. Unbelieveable goaltending game.
Good game by both sides. Calgary managed to hold Dallas to a few quality chances even on the 5 on 3s and when Dallas did manage to break few a few times Kippers was there to come up big.
(just thought someone else should post in your thread) ;)
Bleh, quite the goaltending duel.
If I didn't drink so much, I'd be more pissed.
I hate being shutout.
But holding Calgary to 1 goal is goooooodish.
Although I thought I was watching old school NHL.
But I'm wrong, it was all goaltending.
The Stars played a great game. They deserved to win, and it just came down to who got the break first.
I think Calgary is ripe for an upset come playoff time. They play every game like it's the playoffs. The Olympic Break helped them but I think by the time the postseason comes around they are going to be so physically and, more importantly, mentally exhausted that they will fall in the first round.
They desperately need scoring. I still can't believe the best thing they could get was Jamie Lundmark.
Iginla looks slow and lethargic out there most nights. I guess if they get on a roll and their collection of 3rd line players put in a goal here and there they could go far. But I think they're ready to be upset.
If Kipper gets hurt they are awful
Take a starting goalie off any team and they will not be nearly as good. You think the Stars would go anywhere with Johan Hedberg? No.
If you exclude the goalies, the Stars have a better team than the Flames. Heck, even when you include the goalies.
Folks, is it REALLY necessary to troll their board? We won fairly, they lost with dignity and pride, the two teams will get together again in a few weeks and give us another barnburner to watch... let it go.
It was a hard fought game, Dallas controlled the game, both goaltenders played great, Kipper just played better.
It just sucks because we had not been shutout all year, also Kipper had never beaten the Stars and in the last 10 games against the Flames we had not lost :(
As far as Hedberg goes, he's the best backup in the league (after Biron, I suppose). Not a lot of teams have the luxury of having a backup like him.
But yeah, good game. Nice to finally get a win over you guys, considering how long you've had our number. I have to admit, I was really impressed when I learned that was the first time the Stars were shut out this season.
I thought Calgary was fairly awesome at owning the front of the net. The second chances were few and far between. The only real weakness defensively was the neutral zone turnovers, although the Stars offense was too anemic to capitalize.
