Martin Gerber in goal tonight.
Coach Babcock told the media that Gerber will get the start vs Chicago.
He didn't seem to question the play of Giguere, but rather the play of the entire team. "You give your goaltender no opportunity to be successful if you don't play with structure in your own zone," Coach Mike Babcock said. "[Buffalo] had 21 scoring chances, and 11 were off our turnovers. That's just carelessness." "It's up to each guy, coaches included, to look after their own house," Babcock said. "First thing in leadership is to get yourself looked after and then you can help other people." Well lets hope the team plays better in front of Gerber tonight than they did in front of Giguere vs Buffalo. |
Giguere needs to find his groove. He didn't do that until two months into the season last year. I'm hoping with the return of Carney in a few weeks, the Ducks can change this boat around. The team is just playing way too sloppy and we are not protecting (as Babcock termed it) our "house." We are giving up way too many opportunities in front of the net. That is just unacceptable. How many chances did we give the other team in front of our net in the playoffs? Very little. How many chances have we been giving the past 8 games? Too many. The forwards got to do a better job defensively and the defensemen got to do a better job in front. And Giguere got to do a better job saving our arses. It's simple as 1-2-C.

Gerber should fare well tonight against Chicago. They're not a strong team so if the d plays better than before we can definetely win.
|
Good move by Babs. You've got to ride the hot hand. And right now, that is Gerber Baby Food.
|
The Hawks are tenacious. We can not let them outwork us or its another loss.
|
He should've started against Buffalo, or against Philly before it.
Give rewards for good behavior. Gerbs has had like 2 bad outings in his career. |
Im glad some people here understand the game of hockey and realize our D has sucked...tell that to the idiots at duck calls who think Giguere is at fault for every goal.
I think its a good move putting Gerber in due to the road trip coming up and I think Babs wants Giguere fresh for the Rangers . I think tonight we will see a focused hungry team thats out to prove something and thats the way they better play or we could get outworked by a hard working young Chicago team. The thing about Chicago is they wont quit and we better not be like the Kings and think they will roll over. |
I'd blame Giguere on 3 of the 5 goals that were scored Friday. You think its all the defensemen?
|
Though Jiggy has been shaky, I don't think the descision to put Gerber in net tonight was affected by that. Chicago hasn't been strong, so give the time to the backup. I think it would've happened anyway even if Jiggy was back to normal.

Babcock scratched Chistov? trying to wake him up like he did Lupul?
Simpson won his fight. 0-0 after first period. |
I thought the fight was a draw. Maybe a narrow decision to Simpson. Decent first period by the Ducks. A few good chances.
I'm beginning to agree with Booger that Pahlsson will never score another goal in the NHL. And it's doubtful he would score a goal in a beer league. |

Boring-ass game.

Yawn.
I'll predict a 3-0 loss. |

someone needs to just get a third period goal...give us a 1-1 tie...give us our point...this game sucks. |
Can Anyone Say Jofferey Lupul!?.....jofferey Lupul Everyone!!...1-1
|
I was right!! remember when people were sayin the PP was horrible when Lupul was scratched. wow I'm really startin to like this player alot more each game.
On another note, im really glad Babcock benched chistov, to me this guy shows nothing. fansey stuff may look good, but gets u know where if the puck doesnt get in the net. another example is Matt Cullen. |
gettin ready to start overtime, ducks outshot the hawks 13-7 in the 3rd. looks like they are playing better then chicago.
|
1-1 final
one point is better then no point |

Lupul gives us a tie :handclap:
Gerber had a strong game. Back to Back situation Tuesday/Wednesday, Gerber will get one of the games, Giguere the other. |
That game was a chore to watch. Is that what they decided in the closed door meeting? No more offense?
