Jarventie was bought out, so he's already done.

Take off Garon, he signed a 3 year deal.

Add M-A Thinel who will be Group II

Sort of add Scott Selig and Ryan Glenn. If they aren't signed, they won't be with the organization. We have till '05 summer, but they wouldn't have a team to play for next year, so would most likely be gone.

Andre Deveaux and Michael Lambert need contracts by June 1st or they reenter the draft.

Corey 10-26-2003 06:12 PM

Will Urquhart have used up his junior eligibility this season? Must a decision be made so soon?

Kastsitsyn - Koivu - Ryder

Hossa - Ribeiro - Zednik

Higgins - Plekanec - Bulis

Langdon - Begin - Ward
Kilger

First of all Kastytsin IS NOT #2-3 line ready yet. They don't get drafted good right away! They eventually become good.

My lines were done quickly, I was basically throwing names. Heres what Id do next year....

Bulis Koivu Perezhogin
Hossa Ribeiro Zednik
Higgins Plekanec Ryder
Langdon Kilger Ward
Souray Komisarek
Hainsey Briesbois
Markov Rivet
Theodore
Garon
More along those lines.

Kastsitsyn in Hamilton adapting to the North American rink

Zednik 10-26-2003 07:16 PM

I think we should keep Yannik Perreault. He's a great second line center IMO. Plus, he has a tremendous shot and he's the best on faceoffs.

CrAzYNiNe 10-26-2003 07:24 PM

Do you guys ever just WAIT?

I think Gainey is planning on signing an offensive free agent during the off season. Or, trading for one. Which should come fairly reasonable given the unstable labour negiotations.

By moving these free agents he should free up around 8 million. I don't believe there are any major increases due next season. Both Theodore, Koivu and Markov have their contracts signed for next season.

GilleZ 10-27-2003 05:15 AM

I wont be surprised to see Audette and Garon packed together in a trade. Garon is one of our best asset for a trade and we must get rid of audette ASAP. I'm getting sick of his dumping...

Go Habs Go!!!

No he have at least 1 another season and maybe 2

About next year; if there is a season, we should have room for a good UFA with those salary out. We will have less youth that many of us think, every team (specially the habs) prefer some vets on the 3rd and 4th lines.

Except if he have an incredible camp i don't think Kast will be ready for top 2 lines duty. i'd bet more on Higgins on a 3rd.

I've recently come to the conclusion that Habs fans never wait. They just offer opinion after opinion after opinion. They want all 18 year olds drafted to become Mario Lemieux and when they don't, they want them to be dealt away like garbage.

Now, this isn't all Habs fans of course, but I would say that a good majority on the boards tend to overreact in either direction. Whether it's praising Michael Ryder for his first 3 games (or Marcel Hossa's 5 games last year) or whether it's trying to trade Theodore because he had a bad season (which wasn't even as bad as many other goaltenders in the league).

So ya, waiting is not usually much of an option for Habs fans but I'll agree with you and say, let's just wait and see how they develop and incorporate them into the team as needed. A youth movement does not mean that we throw 23 rookies on the ice.

..and sucks royally at anything else.

Cup contending teams, heck even the very good teams, don't have players like Yanic Perreault as their 2nd line center. I don't think Bob Gainey came here with the intention to keep on being a mediocre team.

Urquhart is 19, so he can play in the Q next year as a overager, but that would be his final year. I don't see why he would go back though, unless his game takes a major turn for the worse. Next year he should be in Hamilton. Corey Locke should join him, and Mark Flood could as well.

Whether the Habs are buyers or sellers at the deadline depends on a couple of things:

1) Standings. No brainer, if they have a good chance to get in, they could go after someone for second-line help.

2) Contract. Regardless of where the Habs are in the standings, I don't see them taking on a scorer who has a long term deal. It would make ZERO sense. A rent-a-player who is a UFA that summer yes, long-term deal no.

I have a hunch that Gainey will trade off specialists (Perrault, Audette) to some contender or another fro youth and picks. Let Savard work his magic with the picks and get more youth (and hopefully size) in return. The rebuilding is a long term process as Gainey well knows if he remembers anything from watching how Good Trader Sam did things.

Brisebois 10-27-2003 01:45 PM

Langdon is on the BYE BYE list and on next years lineup :dunno:
