Is he still with Hameenlinna? Seems like a funny move unless they've actually got a plan for him.

He's with Ilves now and has 5 goals and 3 assists in 16 games so far this season.

The Blues probaly know something we didn't cuz there is plenty of 24years old grinder up for grab around the NHL .

topshelf331 10-27-2003 02:02 PM

Its probably the work of jarmo.

Plager05 10-27-2003 02:17 PM

The Blues have no depth in the left wing. They probably feel Erkki could fill a 3rd or 4th line left wing role next year, since Maiser or Semin probably won't be ready.

c-carp 10-27-2003 02:40 PM

maybe and this is only if this guy is ready to play, we are going to move one of our many grinders for help in other areas? such as D. I agree that Yarmo must know more about this kid. :dunno:

Rajamäki is definately worth a try. He has been the most impressive player on Ilves, Tampere this season.

Erkki is a physical player who has surprised with his points (16. 5+3) so far. He really plays intensive hockey and plays with his whole heart. Having watched him 2 years in HPK and now for a few games with Ilves, I wouldn't be surprised if he got his chance in Blues. Nice fit in an energy line.

Not saying he is going to put up points like Tikkanen, but does he have the ability to agrivate like Tikkanen along with his physical play?

Hard to say how he would do in NHL, but at least in Finnish Elite league he does. He's not aggrivating consciousnesly in any possible way like Tiki did, but he's doing it nicely with his physical play. If he can't get past someone, he'll go over him. That kind of playing style sure aggrivates some players.

Erkki has also dropped his gloves a few times in Finnish Elite league, which is quite rare here and I think he's done a pretty nice job there. He'll never be a goon though, but he doesn't shy away if he needs to go.

I forgot to mention that Rajamäki is a maniac trainer and that his determination and work morale are something you don't see much in hockey these days.

And Vopat just beat Sami Helenius last friday (in the worst hugging matchup I've ever seen)... So who says he couldn't be a goon in the NHL :D

Heh, yeah, though to me it didn't really look like he knocked Vopat down witha clear punch, it was more a like push that Vopat wasn't really expecting and he fell down on the ice.

Thanks for the info all. :D
