Proverbial let-down game? Hope not. Sabres, 3-2.

lecherous 10-27-2003 08:23 PM

Wow, I had no idea Fitzy was +5. Nice.

Tie, 2-2.

imyourhuckleberry 10-28-2003 03:15 AM

without gaborik i think we can handle them but its still gonna be a hard fought game. im worried that on the special "appreciation nights" the team never shows up but they have momentum and confidence coming back from the road trip much like boston did last year.

sabres 2-0 Brieir, Satan

KillToronto 10-28-2003 03:23 AM

Sabres 3-2.

[QUOTE=Takeo21]Bouchard 5 assists, Bouchard 7 points,

Interesting to see Bouchard playing so well, so young. With Gaborik out, I guess he is the offense for Minnesota.

I agree that this will be a letdown game for Buffalo. I mean, they canít win 4 in a row, can they? :dunno:

Minnesota 3

Buffalo 1

He has looked really good. I must say, I have some crow to eat when it comes to Fitzy. Wasn't he a big time prospect when he came up though?

ajsonor 10-28-2003 05:58 AM

Is Ruff going to switch up the lineup to take Patrick out for Tallinder/Campbell, and is Max going to spend another night in the pressbox?

my guess would be that the lineup stays the same until the sabres lose

Habs 2nd round pick in '93

I could see Ruff switching things up a bit. Resting Patrick makes sense IMO. And having new blood in the lineup means that their focus is most likely there - which can be a problem in the first home game following a long and successful road trip.

WhoIsJimBob 10-28-2003 08:54 AM

The Wild don't really have a big time enforcer, so you could see Peters getting scratched for Max tonight.

Unless they want Peters playing on Rob Ray Night........ :moon:

The is typically the case, but I think if there's an exception to the rule it would be when the team comes off its longest roadtrip ever. I think some fresh legs are in order.

lecherous 10-28-2003 09:09 AM

I still think they should have made Rob Ray appreciation night Thursday vs. the Leafs...I mean... Ray vs. Domi exemplifies perfectly the heated/hated rivalry.

MLH 10-28-2003 09:23 AM

I don't let Matt Johnson roam with no enforcer on the bench. If Johnson's going to play then you have to dress Peters.

imyourhuckleberry 10-28-2003 09:23 AM

I hope they go with the same lineup, why change it if its not broken, we finally found some chemistry and you want to change it? its not that hard of a road trip, they stay in nice hotels, eat nice meals, ride a nice jet, they are fine, a guy like patrick has been in the league long enough to know how to keep himself in shape game in and game out and the rest have endurance and are young and in shape. dont change the lineup!

Takeo 10-28-2003 09:58 AM

Through Oct. 26 games, the Sabres have five individuals ranking among the NHL's leaders ... Chris Drury is 11th in scoring (9 points, tied with four others) ... Drury's streak of scoring in seven-straight contests is tied with two others (Ottawa's Radek Bonk and Marian Hossa) for the longest current streak ... Drury is fifth in assists (7, tied with four others) while Daniel Briere is 10th (6, tied with 10 others) ... Briere is third in power-play assists (4, tied with eight others) ... Taylor Pyatt is fourth in goals (5, tied with six others) and he is one of six players with two game-winning goals ... Miroslav Satan ranks second in PP goals (4) ... Rookie Andrew Peters leads the league with 39 penalty minutes and has a NHL-best five major penalties ... Buffalo ranks ninth overall in power play rating as the Sabres have scored on 19.6 percent (9x46) in all games ... On the road, the Sabres have the league's seventh-best power play, scoring 20.5 percent (8x39). Buffalo ranks 13th in penalty kill, thwarting the opposition 84.2 percent (48x57).

I like that, Peters has a NHL-"best" five major penalties... Datta boy!

And if not, the Sabres (FOR ONCE) can take liberties with the other team's players. You gotta dress Peters. Keep those fists on ice until Thursday. Down goes Domi. Down goes Belak.

Patrick has shown the past few years that too much ice time wears on him. He's also experienced enough to understand why he'd be getting pulled too.

The problem with dressing Max is deciding who doesn't dress. Nobody pops to mind.

I would still be inclined to dress Tallinder in lieu of Patrick, though.

The Wild are in fourth-from-last place in the entire NHL, while the Sabres are tied for sixth place. Not to mention the 3 game winning streak Buffalo's on. But it is never that easy, is it? I'm pulling for a Sabres win; really close and low scoring... maybe 2 - 1.

About making some changes, I'm all for giving Pat a rest and ALSO putting Max in. If it ain't broke, don't fix it... blah blah. What ain't broke are the top two lines. That doesn't mean we can't scratch Pittis or Botteril and put Max in. He was benched for not playing well, or more likely for not producing, cause he wasn't playing the worst out of the bunch at the time he was benched. Well, that was done to light a fire under his ass. If that fire was lit, well, his ass is roasted right about now. No sense in letting him sit over the flames until his bones are dusted.

I'm sure everyone agrees here that Patrick isn't up for a full 82 game season. He needs his time off, and while less people may agree that this game is the right time to do it, I feel it is. It is pretty commonly held that the first game off a long road trip is always hard. Fresh legs from some guys all juiced up over not being able to play when their team had a 3 game winning streak should be just what the doctor ordered.

imyourhuckleberry 10-28-2003 10:28 AM

I'd still keep patrick in, he's one of our steadiest D-men. if we had to take him out today i wouldnt mind it aslong as he was inserted for the toronto game, as for who to put in, i have more confidence in campbell than Talinder right now, i could actually see them taking out kalinin more so than patrick and giving talinder or campbell the job.

True, but you already have a full crowd for games against the Leafs.

Unfortunatly I think this will be a let down game tonight.
I'll take the wild 4-2.

We better show up Thursday vs. the leafs though.
