Rookie of the month

Who is your choice for rookie of the month ?

My choice is Pitkanen, 6 pts in 8 games, leading his team with +6.
Patrice Bergeron is a close second, and Konstantin Koltsov is also HM

Most Valuable Rookie of the month is Pitkanen.
Most Outstanding Rookie of the month is Bergeron.

Chose between both for rookie of the month!

EDIT : Forgot to mention M-A Fleury

X-SHARKIE 10-30-2003 08:04 AM

Marc-Andre FLeury deserves recognition. Definitly a stud in goal, just on a bad team. Pitkanen deserves the Rookie of the month though.

Burke's Evil Spirit 10-30-2003 08:12 AM

Marc-Andre Fleury.

tom_servo 10-30-2003 08:25 AM

You have to put Fleury over Koltsov, anyway.

Howard35 10-30-2003 08:28 AM

My vote would be for bergeron, youngest player in the league and i think he needs to get some credit for the good work he's done in boston this year. My runners up would be pitkanen and fleury.... all 3 are playing very very good though

Big McLargehuge 10-30-2003 08:32 AM

Fleury has been godly.

Teezax 10-30-2003 08:43 AM

Pitkanen Bergeron and Fleury

Pitkanen is only 3 points shy of leading all defenceman so i'd give him the honours. Fleury seems unstoppable, and bergeron is meshing perfectly with his Bruin team. Tough call.

Honorable Mention to Joffrey Lopul

neelynugs 10-30-2003 08:58 AM

what about andrew raycroft?? according to THN, he qualifies as a rookie. start including him in all of your rookie analysis, b/c he's here to stay.

i agree with the above poster though-
fleury, pitkanen, bergeron....and raycroft are the top candidates

uzziman 10-30-2003 09:41 AM

Personally, I would give it to Pitkanen

Peter Griffin 10-30-2003 09:54 AM

Bergeron, Pitkanen or Fleury would all be good choices IMO. Honourable mentions to Jason King.

BlackJack21 10-30-2003 10:23 AM

Pitkanen...

I saw almost all Flyers game and I really think he is the MVP of this team right now...

No, may be trailing Recchi.

X-SHARKIE 10-30-2003 10:24 AM

Being a SHarks fan, I have to put a guy from are team in here.

Tom Preissing, 1 goal 3 assist. Been Very good so far. Though he's definitly not the rookie of the month. He should be in the top 10 for people in the running.

Evilo 10-30-2003 12:33 PM

I'd give it to Fleury.
Rarely an 18 year old goalie has dominated the way he has.
Second Bergeron and Pitkanen.
Koltsov a distant fourth.

tom_servo 10-30-2003 12:42 PM

Koltsov is lower than fourth. Raycroft, Jason King, and Michael Ryder are guys I would put above him.

Robert Paulson* 10-30-2003 12:48 PM

Joni Pitkanen should be the Rookie of the Month. MA Fleury 2nd, Bergeron 3rd.

Koltsov71 10-30-2003 02:05 PM

1. Bergeron
2. Fleury
3. Pitkanen
4. Raycroft
5. Zidlicky
6. Ryder
7. Koltsov
8. King
9. Lupul
10. Preissing

DJ Spinoza 10-30-2003 02:16 PM

Fleury is definitely the most valuable rookie thusfar. Without him, we could possibly only have 1 point.

Don't know who I'd give it to.

I wouldn't even consider Koltsov a candidate at this point.

Maithz 10-30-2003 02:57 PM

1. Pitkanen
2. Bergeron
3. Fleury
4. Zidlicky
5. Ryder
6. Koltsov
7. Raycroft

Why? He has 6 points in 9 games, and you know stats don't even tell the whole story with him.

I don't think Zidlicky is eligible.

1- Fleury
2- Bergeron
3- Pitkanen

4- Koltsov
5- Raycroft
6- Staal
7- Ryder
8- King
9- Malone
10- Lupul

agentfouser 10-31-2003 12:57 AM

i'm a bit surprised no one has mentioned ruutu yet. i certainly wouldn't say number one, or even five, but i've seen him twice and been very impressed both times.

john g 10-31-2003 02:52 AM

If Zidlicky is eligible he wins it hands down......3 more assists last night, leading all NHL d-men in scoring (even over Pitkanen), and he has stepped in and replaced all the dman that Nashville let go. Easy winner. Being a Pens fan, I wish MAF would get it but Zidlicky has played way over everyone else.

i really want to see pitkanen win the roy award but i think what fleury has done is lot more impressive. fleury gets my vote for this month.

Don'tcry4mejanhrdina 10-31-2003 05:31 AM

Good to see a lot of rookies play well. They are the future of the league, after all. Oh yeah, my vote goes to fleury.
