The most predictable team in the league

Seriously. Ward wasn't that great. 99% of the shots he stopped were from the point.

That's the problem.
Habs have ZERO creativity. Nada. Niet. Rien. Nul. Nil. Null. Absolute zero.

Always the same damn play over and over again.
A pass along the boards for the D at the point who will either shoot or pass to the other D for a 50 feet shot with nodoby in front of the net to take the rebound.

Record this play and play it ad nauseam, this is our game plan.
This is just great coaching.

I thought we deserved better than a bunch of robots.

It's not like the Canes are fantastic. We just are too easy to stop. Put pressure on the point men and that's it. You know the puck is going there.

I don't want to get on the "hate Montreal" bandwagon but I was thinking thsi throughout the whole game too. You could write a book on our plays and end it after the first chapter.

Mathletic 04-30-2006 09:28 PM

it's been like this all year long

it's like the goalies in Tampa. They never stopped anything during the season, and then all of a sudden they should stop everything.

It's the same in montreal, 12 forwards and half of them are all the same and they don't do much on the ice.

Tatay Farlo 04-30-2006 09:28 PM

Yup, totally agree with this post. Need new personnel to add creativity as our current 3rd/4th liners just don't have it.

Clumsyhab 04-30-2006 09:29 PM

And the worst of that is 50% of our shots from the point are blocked.

JordanStaal#1Fan 04-30-2006 09:31 PM

We don't have any forecheckers that's the problem! Bulis is a ***** who doesn't go in the corners and still he is getting top line minutes with Ribeiro and Kovalev. Ryder doesn't no what a passing lane is and he certainly doesn't have a clue about cycling or creating chances for your linemates. The only line who was forchecking and got the cycling rolling was Plekanec's, once again! Bégin tried but he is visibly not 100%.

And don't want to be harsh or anything but does the guys have a clue that the playoffs are actually started? I do not see anyway drive or desire in most of our players! When Mathieu Dandenault is your most intense player (not to diss Matt or nothing, he's been great) you have a problem!

Evil Ted 04-30-2006 09:32 PM

Well we got the creativity of the 1st line highsticked right out of the series, we had no balanced attack anymore missing 2 lines that have potetial, koivus line takes pressure off riberos line, now we have bonk centering 2 players who have less then 3 nhl seasons under there belt on the 1st line, what do you expect, no offence to bonk or begin.

the plan isnt as bad, even if i always tought this.. but the biggest problem with this is that when the team adjust to the plan... change your plan here and there and take advantage of the openings they create when doing so and pass to the point and take tremendous shots.. then they create fear of driving to the board.. and then they can keep them without knowing if they will dump or do something else, i am no coach but for the love of god.. try something... why is Laviolette doing so great now.. because he adjust, why do we have to wait to lose the serie before thinking of doing something else.. why can we react to their style.. counter attack and pass to the back player make our players move and pass to the next available.. is it because we dont have the skills or reaction time the canes have?

anyway..

go habs go..

Question. From where did Carolina score its goals?

KOMO_ROCKS 04-30-2006 09:40 PM

Bonk, Bulis, Ribs.....not a whole lot of creativity here. I dont mind seeing these guys not back with us.

Kue 04-30-2006 09:40 PM

Our best chances are comming from the point lately. We can't seem to create anything on our own down low, and they're just giving us the point shot for free so I have no problem with us utilizing the point.

They were PP goals and on the powerplay all the teams play the "point shot game". Every single team in the NHL.

I'm talking about 5 on 5 play and Habs shots were all from a long range.

Of course our best chances come from the point. All our shots are from there.

Well said. It's clear the Canes have adjusted to our game plan.

and it's not like they kept it for themselves. Aaron Ward came out and said they made som adjustemts on the pp and what do we do, we keep the same pk. Results: they score from the point all the time after a couple of passes to the winger who kept Bonk or Murray down so the point man could take a free shot.

Whitesnake 04-30-2006 09:50 PM

Crashing the net and using our hockey sense, two things that we don't have or do very much.

Name of the game is goaltending but it can as well be those two other things....
