If Bg

is prepared to keep # 11 ,and # 71 as our top 2 centers next year ,
we will go no further next year , ragardless if Huet signs and plays well , and if our kids continue to improve. Koivu has served us well for 10 years , but age , injuries have taken thier toll, he is no longer a front line center. Plus we jumped the gun way to early to sign him , he wasn`t going to get this deal in free agency. We have seen Ribs
have 2 bad playoffs , this was his shot to show his worth , and made no impact . Yes he is cheap, but moving forward he adds zilch to us winning a cup. We need a bigger , stronger player like Brindamour .
Carlolina exposed us to a tee, we got beat down low, and to the puck along the boards ,with thier size and srength, and too much depth.
let go of Sundstrom, do not qualify Bulis, Abisheaur,Cube ( very replaceable ) and Ribs, free up the money and get the :help:
we need to move forward.

Players like Brind'Amour don't grow on trees. Bobbi Clarke acknowledges that the biggest mistake he's made was letting Brind'Amour go. As for Koivu not being a front line center, he is one on the Habs because he's better than any other center in the organization. The Habs haven't had a center of the type you wish for since Bobby Smith, although you might make a case for Vincent Damphousse. However, by the time Damphousse was traded he had lost something, and he had other issues. Pierre Turgeon was talented enough but he was also soft. Corson wasn't that gifted offensively. Carbonneau was very, very good but not a big front line center. Houle thought he might at last be getting one in Chouinard, but boy was he wrong!

By the way, Carolina also manhandled the Devils. You might note that the Hurricanes also have Eric Staal, who I believe was the #1 rated player in his draft (although the Penguins picked Fleury ahead of him. When was the last time the Habs had the first overall pick? 1980, I believe, and they wasted it on Wickenheiser.

Well if its the case It's because other teams were asking or Ribs didnt interest them. Anyway I think some moves will be made durring the summer. And then you have till the trade deadline to work something out.

Koivu matched up very well with Brind Amour so i don't really get your point. For what they bring to their respective teams, they are very similiar. The big difference is, Koivu has Ribeiro as his other top centre, while Brindy has Staal.

As for Carolina. With there great depth at centre, they didn't expose Montreal much at all. We saw Carolina have a great powerplay. Three games went to OT, most were close competitive games that could have went either way.

The difference in the series. Carolina's best players brought it game in game out, and Montreals didn't. Kovalev, Ribeiro, Ryder, Higgins were inconsistent.
