Torres's "hit" on michalek

wow...what a cheapshot..michalek had played the puck and it had been atleast 3 secs and his head was down and torres just comes and delivers a forearm to the side of the head...hope milans ok

iR0CKED 05-08-2006 10:45 PM

lookied more like an elbow. you could see him follow throughj with his elbow after the initial contact.

felixd 05-08-2006 10:46 PM

Yeah that was a late elbow/forearm. Dirty for sure

FLYLine24* 05-08-2006 10:46 PM

Now that was very boarder line hit. I'd call it dirty.

190Octane 05-08-2006 10:46 PM

It was 3 seconds in slow mo..

That being said it was still late and it was dirty as hell. Someone from the Sharks should send a message to Torres that those kind of hits won't be tolerated.

Grizzly Adams 05-08-2006 10:47 PM

Wow, that was ugly. I hope Michalek is ok, but I don't think he will be.

Just getting even for previous crap.

st5801 05-08-2006 10:47 PM

Terrible hit. I can't believe there was no call. That's a blatant elbow to the head and it looked like he came up behind him and he blindsided him with it to make matters worse.

And how is San Jose going to just let that go?

pox 05-08-2006 10:48 PM

hum... reminded me of a hit from game one.....

sabresrat 05-08-2006 10:48 PM

That was a piece of **** cowardly hit by Torres. No place for that in the game.

Hopefully Colin Campbell will finally get off his *** and start suspending people for targeting the head of opposing players.

RedArmyMontreal* 05-08-2006 10:48 PM

Poor Sharks, where will their scoring comes from if their 2nd lines falls apart? Will Joe step up? :shakehead

judging by the impact of the hit and how hard he hit his head on the ice after, I am pretty sure he is concussed

iR0CKED 05-08-2006 10:49 PM

HAHAHA McLaren with a hip to the balls. good one.

Legionnaire 05-08-2006 10:49 PM

That looked like something out of professional wrestling

Souffle 05-08-2006 10:49 PM

It looked just like the hit on Smyth by Smith last game, and it's similar to the Stevens on Kariya. Hard hit, very opportunistic, but not dirty.

Extended, blindside elbow to the head on a player that doesn't have the puck = dirty.

Buffalo87 05-08-2006 10:55 PM

When somebody gets a chance a video of the hit would be great.

Steve L* 05-08-2006 10:56 PM

Now thats a perfect example of the hits the NHL needs to get rid of. He took his hand off his stick, caught someone unaware and lifted his elbow/forearm into the head of the other player, he may have even left his feet.

Id give him a suspension for that. Premeditated intent to injure.

I disagree, the Stevens hit on Kariya I felt was borderline but it was Steven's upper arm/shoulder that hit Kariya from the front and he did just unload the puck when he was hit.

This was a case of the puck being unloaded and Torres flying in with an elbow/forearm to the side of the head so it's not even like he had him lined up from the front.

One was borderline and was was just completely dirty.

Buttonwood 05-08-2006 10:58 PM

I thought this would be kind of a non-issue because the was a very similiar hit last night on Smyth. No elbow, somewhat late, very hard.

I hope hes alright but until head shots are removed via the rulebook this was a hard hockey play.

He tucked his elbow in at contact, and hit him with his upper arm/shoulder. The "extension" occurred after Michalek went spinning into the ice. That's just a hard open-ice hit. It looked worse than it was because he landed on his face.

Nazzy-19 05-08-2006 11:04 PM

Michalek has returned to play.

felixd 05-08-2006 11:04 PM

Michalek back, no harm done. Good to see

Frank the Tank 05-08-2006 11:05 PM

I think that is perfect example of why one should not admire their passes. Keep your head up and that will not happen.

Grizzly Adams 05-08-2006 11:05 PM

I think he still probably suffered a concussion.
