Who do you think are the top russian players of All Time?

They can come from any era. Goalies Forwards or defence.
They can be NHL'ers current or retired.
They can be retired WHA players.
They can come from any european elite league.
They can come from red army moscow dynamo etc
They could had played internationally with russia in various hockey tournaments e.g. Olympics, World Championships, Spengler Cup, World Juniors, Canada Cup or World Cup.

Players choosen for the top 50 by you do not have to be in order.

agree. no russian hockey player deserves it more.

Bobrov and Tretiak should be higher, Imo.

I'm not very well-versed in Russian players pre-1990, so you'll have to forgive the question if it's ridiculous.

Where would the members of the Wings' Russian 5 rank? I know Fedorov and Larionov would probably be the highest. Just wondering.

Yes, I forgot Bobrov. Also guys like Venyamin Alexandrov, Alexander Ragulin, Alexander Almetov, Konstantin Loktev, Boris Mayorov, Yuri Lyapkin, Vitali Davydov, Viktor Konovalenko and Viktor Kuzkin could be added there.

As for Yashin and Zhitnik, I think they belong.

Top Russians in terms of talent? or just best players...(points etc)

I went to his hockey camp for a week, 3 years ago. Hes a really nice guy. Though he made my life a living hell when ever I made a mistake on the ice. ;)

points is subjective a player in the nhl has achance to score more points then a player over in europe because we play more games in the nhl.

Some of the players from the 50's should be there. Sologubov, Guryshev, Babich, Shuvalov and Tregubov are definetely top 50.

Incedentially I just drafed Sologubov in te all time hockey draft. Quite the steal at pick 303.

It's top 50, not top 500.


As for Balderis, it says "Russian players", not "USSR players". Why not Irbe among the top Russian goalies while you're at it ?

if you want to sp;it up the country and do top 10 or top 25 lists for each country / teritory that belonged to the ussr go ahead.

A couple of active players that I think should also get consideration:

Pavel Datsyuk and Andrei Markov.

How do Russian members feel about Maxim Sushinsky? He's been solid in Russian league for many years.

Sushinksiy in top-50? no way in hell

Just a few other names to consider: Aleksandr Golikov, Aleksandr Skvortsov, Mikhail Varnakov, and Viktor Tjumenev were consistently good on national and club teams.
