Flyers sniffing at Comrie??

Saw this on the Oil board, man did I get into huge debates on there.
These guys think they can land Handzus and Willy for Comrie, hilarious.

If anyone said that the Oilers could get Williams and Handzus for Comrie they are nuts.(althought I would like to see the post where someone said that)

Handzus, Woywitka for Comrie +(meaning pick, prospect or player).

That was all I saw on the Oilers board.

I like Comrie more than most people do, but I wouldn't give up Handzus for him.

Something is terribly wrong if Justin Williams is available.

Anything is possible with Bob Clarke though..............

Didn't he give up Ouellete and a pile of draft picks for Oates???
..............OOPS!!!!!

That was original.

I'll give you credit a Leaf fan showing his face here after 7-1 Saturday night... and a well played game 7.

:joker:

Oh come now John, let the Laffs have their redundant "Ouelette and 3 picks for Oates" comeback, whatever it takes for them to get over there horrendous performances aginst us in the last 2 outings :shakehead

There is no way in hell I see Willy or Handzus going anywhere, not for Comrie anyway. And if they did, I'd be the first one on the Clarkemustgo.com website signing the petition a number of times.

Yup. And garbage for Amonte. And Brian Boucher for Michael Handzus. And Rulsan Fedotenko and a pair of second rounders for Joni Pitkanen. And Pavel Brendl and Bruno St. Jaques for Sami Kapanen.

Go ahead and wallow in one trade. Oh, how is that Nolan deal working out?

I have to echo these sentiments.

Now it just may be the Hockey media painting him in a bad light, but it sounds like he's a cancer in the locker room, so no thanks.

that has to go down as one of a top 3 boneheaded trades of the last decade, maybe more. They could have gotten a mannequin for free at any clothing store in the area.

blah 11-04-2003 11:29 AM

lol how is that an insult? I think it's pretty good that the Flyers had that much to give away for a rental like Oates.

What about Gagne? DO you see Clarke maybe moving Gagne in a change of scenery type deal? I know he has not been awful, but he has not "taken" the next step yet. Gagne seems like the protypical Oilers. FAST

Go to the Oilers board, there's like 10 pages on this.

BrindA17 11-04-2003 01:11 PM

That article makes a pretty gutsy statement: "The most likely destinations might be the Philadelphia Flyers who have, in Bob Clarke, a GM who's always looking to deal"

Since when? :dunno:

Not to mention we have enough centermen. Maybe, MAYBE, if they'd take Primeau it could work (why everyone wants to keep this guy in town is beyond me. he checks, wow. that's amazing :shakehead ). Though I'm not exactly a big Williams fan, I must admit that he's been very good. Williams for Comrie doesn't make sense on two accounts right now.

blah 11-04-2003 01:30 PM

It was an Edmonton paper. Maybe they threw the Flyers in there as story filler assuming it would never reach they eyes of anybody in Philly.

Very possible.

Teezax 11-04-2003 01:53 PM

Well the Oil fans are claiming that the source is very reliable, and doesn't have that Al Strachan, Bruce Garrioch or Tim Pannaccio type mentality, thus possibly being for real. I just don't see us moving any forwards unless Clarke wants to to take a chance on Gagné. i know the Oilers would love to have Woywitz as well, but the question remains where would we fit Comrie?? We couldn't drop him to the 4th line, Primeau is doin' a good job on the third, same as Zeus and JR...it's really too mind boggling so i guess it wouldn't happen. If this were the deadline it would be interesting as Prims will likely not be re-signed. :dunno:

Actually, I think I read in my local paper sometime during the beginning of the season that Clarke plans on bringing Primeau back.

Scary, isn't it?

If he takes a pay cut I'd love to have him back.

How much of a cut? I'm thinking a 3 million dollar cut here.

I said Comrie wouldn't crack the Flyers top 9 and they went nuts on me over there.
