Which Canadiens are usually the most fit?

As in, the players that always show up to camp in shape and stay in shape throughout the year...

JMMR 05-24-2006 10:42 PM

7% is still pushing it. 8-9% would be believable.

The leanest are forwards Chris Higgins and Steve Begin, whose 7.5 per-cent body fat is well less than half a healthy adult male's 18-per-cent norm.
Another interesting quote;

Quote:

Last summer, Ivanans set his lifetime best on the bench press in an Illinois gym.

"It was a good day," the Latvian said. "Eight plates."

Which would be 405 pounds, or almost 21/2 Mike Ribeiros, the sinewy centre who's the lightest Canadien at 175 pounds - nearly 30 pounds below league average.

Scott Livingston, the Canadiens strength and conditioning co-ordinator, says that Ivanans is the mightiest man on the team, though former Russian winger Oleg Petrov, all 5-foot-9, 170 pounds of him, might have been the strongest he's seen pound-for-pound.

Another interesting quote;

I miss Petrov :( He was my favourite habs in the last few years

Bouillon seems stocked.

Talent Analyst 05-25-2006 04:08 PM

Kovy and Begin

jester099 05-25-2006 04:17 PM

I heard Bouillon is in incredible shape.

Among the strongest physically and the more fit.

I think he was actually the strongest player on the habs maybe 3 or 4 years ago, or something like that...

kostitsyn fan 05-25-2006 05:25 PM

markov is probably the guy who as the better endurance ... I read that from a team trainer interview... But i remember that higgins was the lowest fat % and it was 7 or 7.5%...

Marchy79 05-25-2006 05:28 PM

Kovalev...
There is a reason his nickname is 'Da Kommandar'

I took a nutrition course at university and I remember them saying that if you are 7% body fat - that's pretty much the lowest you can go.

It's always some of the smaller players that really surprise you in terms of their strength. It seems to me that guys like Bouillon have to work extra hard just to make it, so it wouldn't surprise me one bit if he was not only the fittest, but strongest as well.

Wasn't it also said that Ivanans had something like only 9% body fat a year or two ago? For a guy his size, thats damn impressive.

It never ceases to amaze me the amount of threads here that are very borderline homosexual... We're discussing players body fat percentages, how much weight they can lift, and who's in the best shape.:shakehead

Maybe you sir, are the one who questions his own heterosexuality. If you can't say that a man is in shape, you probably belong in 6th grade :eek: .
