Sergei Kostitsyn

I've been impress so much by this kid . He's speed is good , a good acceleration , have a good positioning in front of the net . He's not scrary to apply body chek and he look strong on his foot . He play on the point in london and he look good , not a big slap shot , but a nice accurate shot .

What do you think about him ?

CH Wizard 06-02-2006 07:29 PM

Yeah, I like him. He's a bit the whole package (not overly physical but he could learn..). His defence isn't stellar and all but I like his overall skills.Good positioning, skating is good, shot is really accurate.. I saw him throw quality bodychecks tho', no way is he afraid to play the body. I'd rather have a really accurate shot at the point then have a shot ala Souray who missed the net, 90 % of the times last year. He's energetic, I liked seeing him play, in the OHL playoffs. Nice pick habs. I wish his brother had his energy.

I really enjoyed the montage on him, on youtube.

I think most Habs fans cannot wait for him to show what he can do next season. If he comes even a little close to the expectations, he will be a good one.

Adam91 06-02-2006 08:53 PM

Definitly a better prospect then his brother

I wouldn't say that yet, I'm sure alot of people would say that Andrei has much more pure talent and potential.

HabsoluteFate 06-02-2006 09:07 PM

I've been impressed with him for sure...
I remember when I went to see the Rookie tournament last fall the guy looked like he was 15 years old

Habs13 06-02-2006 09:15 PM

Anybody else see him as a better Bulis type player? Imagine if Bulis could hit the net with his shots and wasn't afraid to hit and be hit... had god work ethic.. would this be SK?

Andrei is a WAY better player than his brother .. but I just chek at they asset of the game and they can be a terrefic duo

Vasculio 06-02-2006 09:17 PM

I wouldn't say he's a better prospect than Andrei either... he had a *really* good rookie year, and he displays potential to be a steal in his draft year, but Andrei has so much potential offensively, and already learned how to be at least decent in the defensive zone, and area he probably didn't even know the existence before.

When he played with the Habs, each time he had the puck, you could see how he's strong on it, his shot is so strong, and damn his passes are what impressed me the most, as I thought he couldn't make one...

I think he'll better develop in the NHL than in the AHL, IMHO

Siahrei is nonetheless a better prospect than alot thought he would, I think...

What about the story on him being home sick and returning home next year?

From the sound of it, he was happy in London and he was a fans/teammates favourite...

This site is all about the Kostitsyn brothers. Has some videos on there in the media section too. Good site, deserves a mention every now and again

I still like Ryan Getzlaf better than Andrei, but as I said to a scouting friend the other day, Andrei's selection led to a trio of Belarussian selections that aren't looking too bad right now.

Habsfan18 06-03-2006 11:54 AM

Why was Sergei Kostitsyn drafted so late?

Any reason? Was he just an unknown at the time of the 05 draft?

Did the Habs make perhaps one of the steals of the draft?

because he had cooties...

ewwww...

Habitant#1 06-03-2006 12:02 PM

For some reason he reminds of Ovechkin. Not talent wise, but just the way he holds himself up.

Habsfan18 06-03-2006 12:06 PM

Just wondering, does anyone think the only reason Sergei had a great season was because of the stocked London team and Rob Schremp feeding him the puck?

Just looking for opinions, I hope he can keep up his pace next season.

Team_Spirit 06-03-2006 12:07 PM

Why you didnt ask this in the topic we already have on Sergei ?
