OT - Portugal and duty free

Hey everybody!

I am leaving for Portugal tomorrow :yo: , and I have a few questions... any help is appreciated.

First, I know some posters here are Portugese (Shabutie I think), and I guess some have already traveled over there.. so I just wanted to ask about things you absolutly have to do/see in Lisboa and around. Restaurants serving other than fish :innocent: , clubs, etc... generally will I be understood if I speak french/englsih (stores, restaurants)? Can I catch some canadian TV overthere? I'd like to watch the NHL draft...

I also wanted to know if anyone knows the price of cigarettes at the Dorval dutyfree shop?

thanks:)

I've been to Portugal but don't remember much so am no use... but, watch out for diving Potuguiese soccer players... worst in the world! Thinks Ribeiro is bad... C.Ronlado takes the cake!!!!

:) You should be ok with any cod dish. I was in the Azores in 2001 and didn't speak English or French, I didn't have to. ;) In Portugal in the big centers you should not have too much trouble.
Have you thought of bringing your own tv? :biglaugh: :biglaugh: :help:

I was in portugal in 2004 for the euro cup. It actually is pretty hard to communicate with people over there if you do not speak the language. I did not find to many people who spoke english. Hardly any actually.

As far as tv goes. You will have englsih movies and stuff with portuguese subtitles on the bottom . I doubt you would be able to catch the nhl draft though. Will it be online??
