I Was Thinking (Sorry, more Comrie)
The Flames were in a similar situation with Chris Drury, both he and Comrie were/are rumored to want out of their respective towns. I don't think Drury is a whole lot better than Comrie and Comrie is younger. Calgary got a pretty good return for Drury (+ Begin whoopy) in Reinprecht and Warrener. I've seen alot of people saying the best we can do is a prospect or a third or fourth liner, etc. If the Flames can get Reinprecht/Warrener during the off-season, why couldn't we get something similar if not better from a desperate team?

These boards are a funny thing, especially with the value giv'n to Comrie changing almost daily. If I would have suggested at the beginning of September that we might get Coyburn or Gagne for Comrie, I would have gotten flamed terribly. Yet now, these are being seen as reasonable returns. I would like to point out that I have said the entire time that I think trading Comrie should be a LAST option and if we trade him, we should trade him thinking we are trading one of the young stars of the game, a guy who will get you 80-90 points potentially, get under people skins, ala Theo Fleury(without the baggage). I agree totally with sinergize that we need to get at least the package Buffalo got Drury, if not more.

The obvious reply to this argument is that Comrie is unsigned, more difficult to get under contract than Drury, is asking for more money (4 million), is injury prone, is terrible defensively and has a terrible attitude.. how much of this is true and how much is simply message board propoganda is completely unknown :) However, I guarantee a number of posts will be made within the next couple days arguing what I've mentioned above despite what I've written here heh
