Corson To Mtl? (Source-Rumor)

Got this from Habsboard on Fanhome.com:

Norm Rumack, a Toronto radio guy who is friends with Corson and Tucker, passed on tonight that he's heard Shayne is on the verge of signing with Montreal. He said it'll be announced tomorrow.

No, I'm not joking. So if it doesn't happen, blame him.

Reign Nateo 11-07-2003 07:14 PM

Don't do it Habs!

NJ_Devil_Boy 11-07-2003 07:16 PM

Isn't Corson one of those tough guys that demands respect and that drives to the net and gets all the garbage goals?

won't that be useful to use?

Atleast we'll know soon enough if this is BS

He'll add about 5 goals to the Habs team totals if he signs.

leafaholix* 11-07-2003 08:49 PM

He's been passed his prime for a while now, even throughout his stint with the Maple Leafs... it seems almost as if he needs a chair to hold onto in order to stay on his skates.

BTW, Norm Rumack's great friends with Corson and Tucker, he's not just another radio wacko making stories up... I'm not saying that the story is true, I'm just saying just because a guy's a Leaf fan and hosts a Toronto radio show, don't just descredit him.

This isn't Al Strachan.

Best of luck to Shayne If he does comr back. He is a warrior but you have to wonder how much he has left in the tank at this point.

If this happens, how soon does Sideshow Tucker demand a trade to the Habs?

PS if the Habs didn't already have a plethora of 3rd and 4th line fodder, I'd support this move. I've always liked Corson, and he is still great in the shadow role. Just ask Alexis Yashin.

I had Janet Hrdina, Christine Dingman and Sandra Mccarthy in my hockey pool for the better part of a year...... If I was stuck with Yashin last year, with his totals I would have been whining about Alexis all season!!!!! :D

Back to Corson .... why not just trade a softer player and eat some salary if necessary and chase a younnger Corson that might be available..... they've already got a surplus with Koivu back.....

BigDaddyGarrioch 11-08-2003 06:44 AM

Corson is to hockey what Rosie O'Donnell is to hetero-sexuality. Terrible move for the Canadiens if they indeed followed through. They are better of saving their money and looking elsewhere.

TwineSniper 11-08-2003 06:49 AM

before I start, I wanna mention that I am a Corson fan, and don't believ some of those rumours being thrown around about him..

That being said, I am torn with this rumour.

Corson is (was) a good player and whenever he has played in Montreal he has seemed to have had more enthusiasm for the game then when he played elsewhere.

But, if we pick him up, that probably means him taking a roster spot away from Darren Langdon or Steve Begin, and so far, I like how they have played for Montreal.

So, if he does signs that mean we start shopping Langdon or Begin around the league? it doesn't make sense since we wouldn't get much (both waiver pickups) and I believe they are worth more than that.

so, to sum up, I could go either way.

Traitor8 11-08-2003 07:48 AM

I believe if we pick him up, he will take Dackell's place...

the 3rd line:

Bulis-Juneau-Corson

To add a little more toughness on the third line maybe... we can also use him in front of the net on the PP.

Zednik-Koivu-Perrault
Hossa-Ribeiro-Ryder
Bulis-Juneau-Corson
Langdon-Begin-Kilger

Pinto 11-08-2003 07:51 AM

This guy is going to get plastered by the media if he actually signs

Huh?

We should not want Shayne Corson... He left us high and dry when he left for the leafs... 100% his fault... for all the time he spent in a habs jersey, he blew trhe entire thing signing with Toronto. Good riddance and happy hunting Corson... But you are never going to be a hab again.

I agree 100% with you, he turned is back on us, he said " I alway's wanted to play for my favorite team". Don't want him back.
