What would you do?

If you were in charge. Would u go out and get Chara or Elias??

Should be very interesting. U know Dean wants to sign afew big names. Remember this is LA!!

Ellias would be sweet.

How about making a move with the Pens and getting Malkin. He is a young star. Give them Frolov straight up. Sometimes u got to take chances!

a.) While it's "LA" hopefully Lieweke butts out and we don't just sign a " NAME " to put butt's in the seats at staples ... while I loved all Luc has given the Kings, he, JR etc. are NOT the direction we should go ...

b.) speaking of direction, go look at how Lombardi built the sharks, and come back and tell me he wants to sign big name UFA's again ....

What???

You know that Dean does not want to go into the new season with Dave Taylors team. He has alot of people to replace!

As for the head shaking.

**** ITS FRIDAY

GO PORTUGAL!

Personally, i would MUCH rather go for chara. He would fill a MUCH bigger void than elias would. Chara would be the defensive monster we've been lacking, play on the pp, pk, etc etc. Although elias is a great player, i just think chara would make a better fit on the kings.
I don't believe offense was a HUGE problem last year, but our defense was. I think the core we have now with a bit of tinkering here and there could do just fine. however, i'm not confident in the d we have right now. Chara would change that immediately IMO. Yet another reason i think i'd prefer chara is, if you look at organizational assets, we will have an influx of forwards coming in the next few years. On the flip side, we are rather thin in regards to defensive prospects.

johnjm22 06-30-2006 07:04 PM

I expect to see DL make smart, conservative signings. No contracts over 5M per season.

GRuiz98 06-30-2006 07:04 PM

BTW, i think it would take a lot more than frolov to pry malkin away from the pens

kingsfan25 06-30-2006 07:17 PM

Elias is not going to the Kings...I can see Chara maybe based on the fact that DL has advocated the importance of a #1 D-man.

Chara is also closer to what I'd do, I guess....

ding ding ding winner ... though not even sure Lombardi will aim that high just yet until he's sure of exactly what he has with this team and the young guns {Cammy, Gleason, Frolov, Brown, Garon, Kopitar, O'Sullivan, etc. ... he's going to add some short term vet leadership and build the team around the 26 year old and younger kids, and solid Goalie prospects JUST like he did in San Jose.

kingbrath 06-30-2006 07:23 PM

Langenbrunner, Shanahan, McKee and Mitchell

Quattro 06-30-2006 07:29 PM

Shanahan = Roenick II. No thanks.

How is that? Shanahan had a very good last year. Roenick wishes he had a good last year. Getting Shanahan for one year would be ideal, but no more than two years.

johnjm22 06-30-2006 07:48 PM

Shanny played all 82 games last season and racked up 81pts (40g 41a). He is nothing like Roenick.

I wouldn't mind having him as long as the deal is relatively cheap and no more then 2 years. He can still produce, is healthy, and can provide vet leadership for all the kids.

Dave in LA 06-30-2006 07:50 PM

Upfront the kings more speed, skill, grit and #1 center.

McKee & Mitchell would be awesome on the blueline.

Norstrom/McKee
Visnovsky/Sopel
Gleason/Mitchell

Miller gets bought out and the kings eat some of his contract for 2 years.

He's going to be gunning for a retirement contract.

That would make for a pretty interesting top 6.

Shanahan/O'sullivan/Langenbrunner
Frolov/Conroy/Cammy

That would also make our D quite solid.

Norstrom/Visnovsky
Mckee/Sopel
Gleason/Mitchell
Miller

devilinto 06-30-2006 08:25 PM

Should be alot of fun tommorow!

Osprey 06-30-2006 09:10 PM

I would try to sign both, but I also would've retained Demitra, simply because it never would've crossed my mind to get rid of him. Lombardi knows what he wants and is better at this than any of us. Whatever he goes with, I'm onboard with.

I don't think it crossed anyone's mind.

We were all talking about dumping Frolov and Brown...but I guess if you're going to drop a top-sixer you might as well open up some cap space.

CowMix 06-30-2006 09:38 PM

dumping demitra and frolov + brown doesn't make sense to me, to me you try to be a contender with demitra or you rebuild with frolov and brown. however, maybe DL thinks that frolov and brown will never be good enough and should get gotten rid of.

Um... how?

Shanahan has respect around the entire league, by getting GMs and players together to hold discussions during the lockout. What was Roenick doing at the same time? Telling fans to kiss his ***.

Roenick was whining about his skates, his gear, and admitting he wasn't giving it all this season. What was Shanahan doing at the same time? Leading a group of veteran Red Wings, who everyone wrote off because of age and speed, to the President's trophy.

Shanahan is nothing like Roenick.

But just wait until he gets to LA. I have noticed that the Los Angeles lifestyle makes alot of veteran NHL'ers become lazy star gazers.
