Mizral, I'm almost positive that goalies have the same criteria as skaters do when it comes to being considered a rookie. I'm checking to make sure though.

As it stands, these are the following rookie goalies that have played in the NHL so far this year:

Andrew Raycroft (Boston)
Ryan Miller (Buffalo)
Dany Sabourin (Calgary)
Michael Leighton (Chicago)
Philippe Sauve (Colorado)
Mathieu Garon (Montreal) - born Jan 9 1978, 24 prior NHL games
Sebastian Caron (Pittsburgh)
Marc-Andre Fleury (Pittsburgh)
Mikael Tellqvist (Toronto)

1- Fleury
2- Staal
3- Pitkanen
4- Bergeron
5- King
6- Hamhuis
7- Koltsov

Eric Staal added another assist and a overtime goal tonight. Thats two more points.

King just scored again. 8 goals on the season. Amazing passes by the Twins.

Who is Trent Hunter?? It seems like he just came out of nowhere and now has 6 GOALS and 2 assists in 8 games with the Islanders.

No, Hunter's been around the AHL for a couple years now.

For some reason, he really caught my eye a couple years ago when he played for the Islanders in the playoffs against the Leafs. He actually scored a goal I believe.

Garon is not a rookie this season. Not sure of the rule but I'm almost positive he's not.

.

Brandner is too old to be considered for the Calder Trophy. He's 28!

You are correct, Garon is not a rookie. He has seasons with 11 and 8 games, according to NHL.COM, you can not have played in more than 25 games in one season, 6 or more games in any 2 nhl seasons and can not have acheived your 26th birthday by sept 15th in the season in question.

Fleury should win the calder. But about Jason King, this kid can score. Two years ago he scored 63 goals in 60 games in JR. Nobody scored more than King that year.
