A top line 30 goal scorer for an unproven prospect? I think the bar is set a bit high. Personally, I'd do a prospect swap for him. I'm really high on Stewart's ability though and while watching the 1st round unwind I was hoping Savard would swap his two seconds to get Stewart. He fell too far back IMO.

How Many goal Zed has since the start of the season?

Z-man is great 20 goals scorer.. but he is not a 30 goals scorer... yah, he did it last year but I don't think he will ever repeat unless he plays with top-end talent....

Zednik for Stewart? Florida would be laughing all the way to the bank!

I was hoping gainey was going to be able to get a mid-first rounder to take Stewart or Parise. I was very disappointed when Jersey got Parise... that sucked!

I hear that. After countlessly choosing wrong and seeing Parise still on the board, I was hoping we'd try to get him. If we hadn't taken Kastsitsyn (who was my first choice for players available) I would have wanted Parise.

But for Stewart, we could have easily thrown our two seconds to get him. He shouldn't have fallen to mid 20 IMO.

I don't see a proven 30 goal scorer with those number... In the last 95 games, he got 33 goals.... In the previous 94, only 25... In the previous 131 games, 35 goals...

HE IS A proven 20 goal scorer.. Not a 30...

Both guys are character players with sense and quickness, you'd think they'd fit the bill. Maybe they have a hunch with Urquhart tho...

We can only hope... I mean, it didn't seem to me like trading up was much of an issue in last year's draft...

Blades 0f Steel 11-11-2003 07:55 AM

*sigh*

First off, prospects do not get traded the season after they were drafted.

Second, Stewart has a high upside. Giving up someone with a great deal of potential means they'd have to be offered something they can't refuse...otherwise they'd KEEP him if he's so great. Hence, why trade him for Zednik??

The value of an unproven prospect taken in the 1st round of a deep draft(last year's, folks) is quite high indeed.

Edit: what do you guys think we could get for Kastsytsin?
