If There Is A Lock Out Next Year...

What The League Is Going To Do With The 2005 Draft Prospect ?

I Can't Imagine That They Are Going To Give The First Choice From 2004 And 2005 To The Same Team... But They Also Can't Put All The Teams Name In AN Hat And Take A Paper After Another One ...

Combine 2005 and 2006 players?

Have another lottery for the top picks? They could weight the teams odds according to how they did in the previous draft.

according to the bozos on 110%, the draft ranking would be the same as the previous year's.

Then again....what does Villeneuve know.....

EquabaleAce 11-10-2003 11:36 AM

that'd be funny. imagine if we got ovechkin and then the next year crosby because of a lockout.

just imagine

It would probably be Florida's luck--on a lottery pick again. They got #1 two years in a row.

And both years they traded down. I don't think they will finish low enough to get the top pick this year though.

Pittsburgh:

Lemieux-Crosby-Ovechkin

Fleury

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Imagine the numbers Ovechkin would put up?

i think it will be a good idea to call up Traverse and to put Perreault on the first line....

also , i think we should trade Koivu to Pitsburg for ..don't know ? a 2nd and a 3th rank draft choice ....:D

Pittsburgh might not even have a team in 2005.

Sadly the Pens would turn that down.

I'd imagine they'd either just do a complete league lottery for draft order, or they'd combing the two years draftees.
Personally I'd like to see the two years be combined. I'd like to see the fight for number 1 pick that year. There'd be Crosby and Ovechkin, and then possibly a few other players who will emerge as future stars.

Duff88 11-10-2003 02:41 PM

Jacques Demers [ Or was it Yvon Pedneault ] said he asked to the league and that they don't even know what will happen if there's a long lock out about the draft.

The CBA ends at the end of the 2004 pre-season so if there are two draft combined, it will be 2005 and 2006.

Habsfunk 11-10-2003 02:48 PM

They could bump the draft age from 18 to 19. That way all the 1987s wouldn't be eligible until 2006. The only prospects that would suffer would be the US college kids who don't get drafted until they're 19, but there aren't too many of them so it isn't that big a deal for one year.

Another possibility is some complicated lottery based on the 2004 draft order but redone to balance things out a bit.

thenn give traverse all the pp and pk mins, ooohhh that be soo great

i bet the cba has something against letting traverse get so many minutes

tinyzombies 11-10-2003 09:14 PM

All we have to do is keep Theodore in nets, he'll end up 20-35 with 20 shutouts.

Tazzjayz 11-10-2003 09:51 PM

If it is indeed the case that in case of a lockout the number 1 this year also has number 1 next year than I'm all for blowin off the season. We wont win the cup but if we get Crosby and Oveckin OMG we will win in 4 years!!!
