Good. He's my favourite last year rookie with last year Habs.

If that's true he took a pay-cut I think.

It most be a multiple year deal (2-3 years) or a one way.

KaptainKourage* 07-09-2006 10:27 AM

673.000$ ?
Wah :yo:

NHLPA rarely puts false info about their players. If that's true then it's great! We were expecting around 1M. That gives BG about 300K more!

Yeah right.

just one year? hmm, well it's not like he'd be a UFA next year or anything. This is alright in my book.

it's a one-way deal, that's sure.. that's the reason why there is the paycut. But I'm really surprised it's that low. his 400 000$ less than expected are a consolation for the 750 000 more than expected that Ribeiro got.. lol

tinyzombies 07-09-2006 11:04 AM

That can't be right. Ribs and Cube are way overpaid and Higgins is way underpaid? Makes no sense to me. Those guys are paid three times the amount Higgins is? Higgins is three times more important than those guys. He's a first liner!

I can understand wanting to motivate players by giving them extra money, but give the money to Higgins, not Ribs and Cube....for god's sake. Yes, they have seniority, but production and potential should be what counts imo. The world is upside down.

Gainey probably wants to see if he can continue scoring, or if his second half was just a hot streak. I imagine that he'll get a significant raise next year if he keeps up the point production.

digitalmonkey* 07-09-2006 11:08 AM

Yeah, 1 year $673,000

...it's on TSN.ca now.

Higgins had 38 points last season. Ribeiro had more and has been around longer. It'll be no surprise that if Higgins performs well again this year that the Habs will lock him up long term for more $$$. He's still a rookie and I think what he got is extremely reasonable for his experience and performance last year

zednik20 07-09-2006 11:18 AM

you guys are never happy...pretty sad...

He was qualified at 945K, so he took 272K less. Wonder what Perezhogin will get now since he was qualified at 787,500K. Komisarek was qualified at 946K.

Problem? Besides maybe lice, that is.

Don't you know nothing is official until TSN reports it?

Maybe a trade.

Anyone else find it odd that Kostitsyn is making more than Higgins?

Lice hasn't been a problem since grade school, but in this case it's why would he take a pay cut.

If he did, then for sure it's an agreement to get a hefty raise next year. Higgins may have taken one for the team, unlike some of the other 'local' products or that dirty newfie Ryder.

That's because Kostitsyn is on his rookie contract and being a top 10 pick he got the max, plus Higgins took a pay cut.
