I see Ryder and Sourray going with maybe Aebi for a top 3 D. But who is available? Ribs can be trade for picks somewhere else.

Habsfan18 07-12-2006 07:51 PM

after hearing Gainey talk on the team 990, it sounds like he's done.

Phousse 07-12-2006 07:52 PM

Well I'm certainly content with what we have now. Bring on the Sabres!

Tatay Farlo 07-12-2006 07:52 PM

I still have a feeling that Ryder, Souray, Abby, Ribs and Bonk are not safe. Any of those guys can get traded with at least two actually being traded.

znk 07-12-2006 07:53 PM

He's done.
He said 3 guys left the team, 2 guys joined, there is one spot open and he will leave it open for the young guys in the organization.

Kosty perhaps?

Would Perez accept playing in Hamilton? Or would he go back to Russia?

BG holds his cards close to his chest...after his interview yesterday where he didn't give anyone any hints about what was going to happen today, and poof...4 moves all in one day...BG never gives the press any heads up! I love it!!!:yo:

Why would he play in Hamilton, Gainey just said one spot is left open and thats Sunstrom. Why would the Canadiens even think of demoting one of their hardest and proven young players for a guy who hasnt done anything yet much less deserve a roster spot? Perezhogin is not going anywhere.

What are you talking about?

I'm saying if Kosty makes the team, Perez may not....would he play in Hamilton?

Are you crazy? Perezhogin isn't going nowhere. If someone is sent down, it's Kostitsyn

Ok, that's your opinion.

I was just wondering if Kosty did make the team, what would happen.

Sundstrom is the player that left, how hard is it to understand that concept? Unless Perezhogin really ****s it up, I dont see how his spot is any danger, not the with the playoffs he had and especially not for Kostitsyn, easily the most overrated prospect in the league.

Right now I see...

Higgins-Koivu-Ryder
Samsonov-Ribs-Kovalev
Kosty/Perez-Plekanec-Johnson
Murray-Bonk-Begin

I'm just saying that IF Kosty were to have a better training camp then Perez, would there be room for Perez on the main roster this season without injuries?

VAN-HAB 07-12-2006 08:16 PM

Will Souray be traded? NO

Will Abby be traded? NO

Will Ribs be traded? YES

Will Lang be brought in? NO

Will Ryder be traded? YES

hototogisu 07-12-2006 08:19 PM

I'm wondering if Kovalev or Ryder will be moved due to Gainey's comment today about seeing Samsonov as a right winger...

Artyukhin* 07-12-2006 08:23 PM

if anyone belive's they can judge if gainey is done even if he lets on oi says so ...
think again .

3 weeks before he traded theo he was saying he had no plans to trade him he had felt there was many more chapters in the book for theo to write as montreal canadien ..... bla bla

3 weeks later he was traded

Guy! 07-12-2006 08:24 PM

(Well, I put this in another thread but it looks like this one would have been the better choice. My bad. Apologies for the bandwidth wastage.)

Look for the rumours of that deal for Legwand to increase now. We need to boost the size of our centres and he'd be a good fit in the 2nd line role.

As for trade bait, we have Ribeiro, Aebischer and Souray who, I believe, are all ripe to leave Montreal. As well there's the Ryder issue, and if he's not signed, then look to him to be part of a package with Souray to bring in poteltially a big 1st line centre. Souray won't like Nashville, though, and with Gainey being a classy GM and all, I doubt you'd see the big defender end up in Music Town unless the Preds had something lined up to send him west. Ribby/Aebi would certainly pluck Legwand (and maybe more), but the question is, does anyone really want Ribs.

(Special note: if Gainey does find a buyer for Ribs, then our GM will be officially renamed the Golden God and we shall send him offerings of fine meat and sweet salsa and we'll sing songs of him and his family while dancing eratically around giant smokey bonfires made entirely of maple trees and smoking maple leaves.)

Ribeiro/Aebi could be used with Souray to snag a second line centre and or, individually, the first two could be used to get picks. I don't think Souray moves unless the return is quite good.

I also don't think it's out of the realm of possibility to see one of our kids dealt with one of the above mentioned names to increase our return. Perezhogin and Souray would net something quite good I would imagine.

At least Gainey has piles of options.

I should imagine, though, that aside from the big centre, the number one thing he'll be looking to do is upgrade our defence. We've heard a lot of attacking rumours, but, especially with Souray rumoured to be wanting to head west, there will have to be something done to address the defence to some extent.

Gotta say, we could very well be the fastest attacking team in the game after today's moves. Firewagon hockey looks to be returning to Montreal en force.

I'm pretty sure he was talking about Johnson being a RW, not Samsonov.

Ummmm, where have you been dude? Sundstrom's a goner.

hototogisu 07-12-2006 08:27 PM

That would make a lot more sense to me, but the topic creator seemed pretty adamant that Gainey was talking about Sammy. Guess we'll see.

Yesterday, Ryder was offered a 1 year deal, and a 2 year deal. No details on salary. He is spending this week in Deer Lake, Newfoundland, helping former Hab, Darren Langdon, with his summer hockey camp.

Did you just get dumped or something?

You're pretty cranky and sarcastic.

Kimota 07-12-2006 08:43 PM

Ryder is not going to be traded. Neither is Ribeiro. You`re not going to get rid of young players just for nothing. And why would the Habs trade Sourey, what`s the point. It`s not like with just signed Chara and we have to make room.

I see Aebischer going and that`s it.
