“During training camp and preseason games players sort themselves out,” he said. “[Latendresse] can’t play in Hamilton. He’s either got to play in the NHL or the CHL, so he’ll have to take a spot away from a veteran if he wants to make the club.

Ouch

Didn't they say they had keep a spot for a rookie?

perezhogin spot..
and while perezhogin is not a legit nhler we can call him a veteran

I don't know, Perez was very good in the playoffs. The only problem with him is it's confidence, you know, like when Claude Julien was always mad at him and even smash a stick on the ice. Or when he took him away from the first line because of some reason nobody knows, but even if Pierre Dagenais suck big time and was only trying to shot on every occasion, he leaves him there only because he's a quebecer. I'm sure it is something else that was breaking his confidence, he was not given another chance when he was making a little mistake but Dagenais always was. You could see that it took a long time before he gained back his confidence.

I think Murray or Downey are a lot more in danger than Perez. I don't think it will be that hard to take their spot.
