Proposal 4 way(Edm,Buffalo,Col, Anh)

Aves get Biron + prospect( from anahiem)
Edmonton gets Gerber and Afinogenov + Colorado Prospect(Boychuk?)
Buffalo gets Comrie and Hinote
Anahiem gets Tanguay and Boulton

Source *Empire Sports Network is reporting a possible deal centering around Gerber and Biron, but that deal makes no sense for either team alone, I gotta believe they plan on moving them on to pick up someone else.

Fire away....

Alex Tanguay, Dan Hinote and Johnny Boychuk for Martin Biron?

Wow.

Pass.

Pass *big time.*

hmmm, your right, it is a bit steep.

I would assume picks and prospects would be included, I just have no idea who though. I am sure Lacroix would make out fine though.

Gerber and a prospect for Tanguay and Boulton?

Tanguay is worth more than that and I doubt Gerber will be an upgrade over Aebischer...who's actually doing alright in Colorado.

With trading players dead for the better part of two seasons except the trade deadline, is this where we are left? a 4 way deal? has that ever happened before?? even once?

I think we're just slowly building towards the 13 way deal.. wouldn't that be a doozy to try and figure out on a sports ticker :)

McDonald19 11-12-2003 04:03 AM

Wow...I wish we could steal Tanguay like that.

Baseball and Basketball never saw one in hockey yet I don't think.

And I mean that in the nicest possible way. :p

I know this is all very unrealistic.

But, I don't get to watch Buffalo a lot but they seem to be a smaller sized team and Comrie would only make them smaller.

Is this true about Buffalo though, that they are smaller?

Not sure about the average height stats and all, but compared to most teams, I'd say the Sabres are rather small/soft overall. That said, adding Comrie wouldn't necessarily make them smaller if the likes of Afinogenov, Connolly, etc. are packaged in return. Size would be substituted not downgraded. Players like Drury, Briere, and Comrie play above their size anyway. If the Sabres build their forward corps around players like this and add some size to their d, they could be very interesting.

The other thing they could do is add size around the smaller forwards like have done with Pyatt, Kotalik, and Dumont.

I think you can live with small center like Drury, Briere, and Comrie if you have some wingers that can do the dirty work in the corners and in front of the net.

That's why Smyth and Comrie worked well together in Edmonton.

With Roy coming up too, this issue should be addressed. Your top 3 centers in a year or so are gonna be Drury--Briere--and Roy with an average height of 5-10ish. This is not even considering the small chance that Comrie (5-9) is acquired.

As it has been said many times before, if Tanguay is traded, it will be a for a goalie.

190Octane 11-12-2003 04:13 PM

To get Tanguay it would probably take Gerber and someone like Leclerc at least.

Tanguay is one of the top scorers in the league right now, and it's not all because of his linemates.
