Habs lineup at the end of 09' season ?

What our lineup could look like at the end of 09' season in your opinion ? What rookie will have crack our lineup ? Wil Huet still be our #1 goaltender or Price will be ready ? Did Kovalev will resign ? Who wil bust ?

Habsfan 32 07-27-2006 04:59 PM

Price is in net for sure.

players in bold will not be coming back imo, Smasonov before Kovy, Lappiere will be replacing Bégin i think, Koivu will be old, Bouillon will be replaced by someone more offensive since Emelin will be doing the dirty work, Huet will be gone for sure since one of Halak, Heino-Lindberg or Danis will be ready

He said that he is eligible in 2008 draft,
the Kevin Lessard who played for the Merritt Centennials in 2004-05 is born in 1986, so it's not him

I think it's impossible to predict. We can't even predict our line-up at the end of the next regular season.

habsprospects 07-27-2006 07:51 PM

We're just doing it for fun

What? A 140-pound "power forward" from Moscow....keep your eye on him.;)

Lineup with no UFA signings up front

Chris Higgins - Saku Koivu - Alexei Kovalev
Andrei Kostitsyn - Mikhail Grabovsky - Guillaume Latendresse
Thomas Plekanec - Kyle Chipchura - Alexander Perezhogin
Steve Bégin - Maxime Lapierre - Matt D'Agositini

Andrei Markov - Mike Komisarek
UFA/Trade - Craig Rivet
Alexei Emelin- Mathieu Dandenault
David Fischer - Ryan O'Byrne

Christobal Huet
Carey Price

Knocking on door: S. Kostitsyn, Maxwell, White

Ribs, Ryder and Souray dealt for a solid defenceman and a future first rounder at this year's trade deadline perhaps if Perezhogin, Kostitsyn, Grabovsky are good; somehow I doubt it.

albertonhabsfan 07-27-2006 08:31 PM

My dear Lord have we all lost our minds are just really, reallllllly bored!! end of 09, Please people get a grip, for fun or not.

turnbuckle* 07-27-2006 09:00 PM

Get a grip on your throat if you don't stop whining.;)

This place is called Hockey's Future - have you ever noticed that?

I always look ahead and project what a lineup might look like; been doing it for 30+ years - it's called being an ardent Habs/hockey fan, and I won't apologize for that. I'm watching two TV programs, reading a few sports websites and posting at HF boards tonight....don't find it boring at all.

I also get a kick out of looking back and laughing at how I could have projected in 99 or so that Chouinard would be centering a Habs second line in 2001-02 or 2002-03, or Ward and Buturlin would be battling for the second-line left wing spot by 2002-03. Just an indication of how optimistic we can be the first year or two after our team picks a prospect.

Three years ago Milroy was easily one of our top ten prospects; now he's out of everyone's top 20. Many people were projecting Duncan to be a future second-line winger for the Habs around 2006-07 - not going to happen anytime soon.

Will Lats be a first or second liner in three years time? Hard to say; his skating will certainly have to keep improving. I think he has Steve Bernier type-potential.

Will Grabovsky be a second-line center? That's probably the biggest question. Perhaps he will be an NHL second liner some day, perhaps he'll not make it as a regular at all. Montreal might trade for a center, Ribs could surprise everyone and become an 80-point+ player, and Plekanec isn't out of the equation either.

Wherever he play, he think Plekanec is overrated, so he is a bust for sure :teach:

If you looked into a crystal ball I bet you Koivu, Kovalev and Ryder wont even be there by 2009. I think koivu will be washed up (we need a real leader as a captain). Kovalev will want to leave Montreal (I'm surprised he has even chose to stay this long) Besides he is a floater, he turns it on and off when he wants to. Why does Ryder not sign for more than one year or is it Gainey. If he has a really good year again Gainey better sign him to a long contract other wise we will lose him in the near future. I also think we are going to end up with a situation in the near future where we will have too many prospects maturing all at the same time and we wont be able to afford to keep them all. Because of the new cap its going to be harder to build a team over 3 or 4 years and keep the main core together. I think you will see a lot of players leaving and new ones coming in, especially in Montreal. As for a goalie Price will be our man.

Big +to the thread.

It shows we're on a HF board, no way their will be so much young gun in the team.

I'm sad no one think Samsonov will be here in 09, even if I think you're right:( !
