Ducks look to deal Vishnevski after award

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=172635&hubname=

Sources tell TSN that the Ducks are actively trying to trade him. If there are no takers, Anaheim may walk away from the award

Artyukhin* 07-28-2006 05:41 PM

id hope bob would make a pich for him . not very offense but hits pretty darn good .

id pay him that money

CrAzYNiNe 07-28-2006 05:41 PM

really? for a HUGE 400 k reward?

the_crippler12 07-28-2006 05:43 PM

GO for it!!

MM425 07-28-2006 05:45 PM

I find it strange that Brian Burke would trade this guy over 400,000 raise.

If he's available, I wouldn't mind seeing him in a Habs uni. Nothing fancy... he'd solidify our defence for sure.

Artyukhin* 07-28-2006 05:50 PM

if we do trade for him could we sign him long term deal right way or do we have to wait ?

instead of his 1 year 1.5 could we offer him 3 instead ?

flappuck 07-28-2006 05:52 PM

Who would you bump from the current lineup for him?

And don't say Streit as I don't think this guy would be too happy to play 30 games a season...

I don't know. All of our D-Men provide some offense except for Komisarek, who provides physicality.

This is tough.

well good question . Vishnevski averaged about 16 minutes a game for the ducks.

82 games 1,346:54 mins >246:34 of it was on the penealty kill .he blocks alot of shots to

Marksman 07-28-2006 06:00 PM

Souray for Vishnevski + something?

If hes going to sign somewhere there after next season, why not?

washington 3 rd rounder might do it

L4br3cqu3 07-28-2006 06:04 PM

I don't know if a 3rd, or even a 2nd would be enough... and IMO, if we trade for him, we'll have 7 NHL D... so who goes the other way ? Souray wouldn't be a bad idea, he would be in California after all... but Souray for Vishnevski +... what ?

If the Ducks trade him before accepting the award, he can be signed for whatever we want

If the Ducks accept his award, he could only be signed to and extension after Jan. 1

but they only have 48h, it's their only arbitration

Isn't Vishnevski pretty good? I thought he did well in the few Ducks playoffs games I saw. 1.55M$ seems reasonable too, I don't know why they would walk away?.

hototogisu 07-28-2006 06:11 PM

I wouldn't give up anything more than a pick for him. 8 points in 82 games at $1.55m? Sure he's solid defensively, but that's a bit much IMO.

I guess they dont need other defencemen, when they have superstars Pronger, Niedermayer and Beauchemin. ;)

lol we have only 2 offensives defensemans, why we would lose one for a other defensive defenseman?

the_crippler12 07-28-2006 06:15 PM

http://www.tsn.ca/NHL/teams/players/...name=nhl-ducks
by tsn he is ''career potential'' top four defenseman

Artyukhin* 07-28-2006 06:21 PM

Pierre Gauthier who is now our asst gm will be lobbying bob hard to deal for Vishnevski if he is availalbe id think

listen to Pierre Gauthier talk about Vishnevski in dec 2000

http://www.findarticles.com/p/articl..._68504424/pg_2

Mighty Ducks G.M. Pierre Gauthier says teams noticed Vishnevski right away. Gauthier began getting calls from opposing G.M.s at the trading deadline in March after Vishnevski had played in 20 NHL games.

"It surprised me a little that there was so much interest in a player with no experience," Gauthier says. "But I told them, `Don't waste your breath, this kid is going to be with our team for the next 12 years or so.'

"When you find a player opponents want on their side, you know you've come up with a cornerstone player."

Markov should be our main gun at the point anyway ... and we will have Streit as backup.

We will likely lose Souray anyway next summer - while Vishnevski will be RFA.

Vishnevski can play physical defence much better without getting hurt all the time. Usually missing only few games (last season 82 games 196 hits).

No. Once the arbitration is done you are binded to the contract unless you let the player become UFA. January 1st we can start talking extension.

I'm gald to hear PG is high on the guy and hope he still is.
