The first time Frölunda was on ice this season i think it was the first time for Henrik too. But he looked like he had been waiting for it. He came on and practiced together with new players in Frölunda after the main practice was over but they stayed on and did some drills for a good 30 or 45 minutes. Looked like it was lots of technical stuff for Henrik. Like side to side. And many times three players all vs Henrik. So he had a tough time keeping up. But did good.

Missed one good picture posting it here...

Action!

And one kinda goofy one I made it big cause i call it his fighting face ;)

Fighting Face!

Helmet and pants. Both Rangers. Its his gear.

And the other team is his old swedish team. Its not unusual for Swedish NHL players to go on-ice with their old teams. Usually Daniel Alfredsson OTT, P-J Axelsson BOS, Christian Bäckman STL all practice with Frölunda in the summer.

Swedish league is pretty similar to Finnish league so hopefully he will score 22 goals and 55 points here on 50 games :)

Much of a goalies stuff is adjusted/molded for him personally.
And it takes to time to get used to each new piece, that's why he uses his Ranger stuff even on 'vacation' in sweden.

Read somewhere about all the jibes he got from fellow rangers when testing and tweaking his new national stuff some weeks before the Olympics :)

Read an interview some years ago with Mats Sundin where ha stated that he (and most other swedes) had permission from the team to do early pre-season practice with some local team so they could stay in Sweden some extra weeks.

Either with their old team or with j.random team that happens to be active where they live.

But it's down to the individual player and his NHL team.
Forsberg is for instance in Philly, since they want to keep tabs on his rehab, Alfredsson is in Ottawa (they stayed in Canada due to new kid), Sundin is in Stockholm (at least last week) and so on.

I also read an interview with Henke short after the playoff exit that he was heading to Gothenburg for the summer but with specific training instructions from the Ranger staff.

Thanks a lot, I love the pictures, and I like seeing that he's on the ice early and roarin and ready to go.

If there's any way you could get clips, that be great.

This season's gonna be pretty nice for us Ranger fans everywhere, including across the pond. :) :yo:

SWEET! Whatta save! In case anyone missed it you can see the puck has fallen off/out of his glove and is about to hit his pad. Awesome timing with this pic!

Freddan 08-02-2006 03:46 PM

It's nice to see that you enjoy the pix since it was the first time i shot anything that has to do with hockey. I might go down on Friday and look at that practice too. Hopefully Henrik is on ice then too i can get a few new ones. And adjust light and maybe get some more action pix.

In the practice Henrik talked alot with Calle Johansson, former Washington Capital, even a captain there i think. Calle is the new assistant coach to Frölunda and has loads of NHL routine so i think he can give Henrik one or two tips. He also talked to someone behind the boards in a jogging suit but it could have been anyone. I dont think Rangers has a goaltending coach over this early. If they ever send one over. But he looked fresh. Not a trace from any injuries like the one that made him a little slower and unfocused in the playoffs. And hopefully he has learned from the first season and comes out even stronger and with that season behind him he will have a big ego and confidence.
