Interesting Released Players

While we know we might be looking for a d-man that most likely will be released during this training camp, do you guys think that somebody already released would be a good asset if not for the Habs maybe for the Dogs???

So far, what about players like:

Clayton Barthel (Wasn't he a good prospect at one time???)

Ivan Novoseltsev (Would he be a better more experienced version of Perezhogin and better than Lats and others of this world???)

Steve Gainey (Would he come home to Papa.....for then being sent to Hamilton???)

Well, none of those players particularly grab my attention. Hamilton is full up with checking forwards, so even Gainey would seem unnecessary. I've never liked Novoseltsev, I wouldn't replace any of our young players with him. I don't know so much about Barthel, but as a generalisation there's usually a pretty good reason why players would be released this early in camp, and I don't see any of these players being useful to the NHL club, soooooo... no thanks. I'd either wait for or hunt down an unsigned veteran NHL player at this point. If it becomes necessary.
