Anyone else feel this way about the team?

For the first time in about 10 yrs+ I actually love our team. Not one guy on the team I don't like. No Dackells or Kilgers or Ribeiros to be annoyed at, just solid players who want to play here and give it their best (We'll see on Samsonov but I don't doubt it).

The only question mark could be Kovalev's desire right now, but I like him anyway, as I know he'll play harder.

There's hope for the.. *gasp*, cup! Soon, soon.

I always loved the CH no matter who wore it.
I still dislike Bonk and everything he stands for.

Kovalev is a known commodity at this point and time; expecting anything more than what he is is pointless.

JMMR 10-13-2006 05:59 PM

I expect a point a game from Kovalev no less.

But yes I really do love this team the Canadiens have, even Bonk as he has proved his worth a few times already on th PK.

Pascal 10-13-2006 06:00 PM

Bonk is just a stopgap while we wait for Chipchura. I believe he'll be re-signed again but for less money of course.

No more Zednik! :yo:

And no more Bulis and Sundstrom, no matter how good they were at the "little things". That being said, there is no way in hell that Bonk won't suffer the same fate.

I think I've always loved this team...hell I saw a Higgins clip last week on the NHL network of him going home after the season and almost shed a few tears of happiness.

znk 10-13-2006 06:09 PM

I always loved them. But they've been alot more enjoyable since last year. Cant forget the thrills of last year's first month....the cardiac kids were amazing.

goalchenyuk 10-13-2006 06:26 PM

who are going to be the first hated players if we have a losing game serie ?

Bonk , Samsonov , Ryder ( who plays better than last season ) ?

pavlako11 10-13-2006 06:28 PM

I think at this point we need Bonk because our other centres are small, he's the only big guy we have. But not for the money he's making

bipolarhabfan 10-13-2006 06:39 PM

I have always loved the Habs, even when the team was losing more often than I would have liked. However, I have not been this optimistic about the Habs in a very long time. They have a team, if everything falls into place, that could potentially challange for the Cup this year. Certainly, they will be a cup contender in the near future. Moreover, they finally have a propsect pool stocked with excellent players, which is more than we could have said about the team 5 to 8 years ago, and have gotten rid of a lot of deadwood that I absoultley hated (e.g., Ribs, Briesbois, Bulis, Zednik, etc.).

While I won't dispute the obvious. I'll just point out that similar things were said about Ribs. (not about size but about offense, of course).

I think we all feel that way and it's mainly because it's the first time in like 10 years that we young players that we have draft that are playing very well and that seems to care that they are wearing the habs uniform. And I think that Higgins is a big part of it. He is one of the bests deals in all nhl for a great two way player who can be physical and score goals and we finaly got a player that can play as intence as Koivu and it's great to see.

Pascal 10-13-2006 07:12 PM

I don't see the hate for Bonk at all. Every team needs a good PK specialist and a defensive forward, which is what he is. Did ppl expect him to score 30g?

Coco Fever 10-13-2006 07:25 PM

I think for the first time we have a team that will be able to compete on the 'physical' side of the game too...remember when we had a 'Smurf line'?

No more intimidation vs Habs. Everyone can take care of themselves and for the first time it looks like we have a true team spirit.

As for Kovalev, the guy wants to play hockey...but looks like he doesn't want to be the 'go to guy'. And I can live with that as long as he performs in crucial times...

I think next year will mark the true transformation back to greatness for the Habs. With Bonk, Johnson, Souray, Rivet, Niinimaa, Downey, Murray, Markov and Aebischer all UFAs after this year, all the stop-gap players will be gone and the recent batch of home grown talent will be ready to go. That means Kostitsyn, Latendresse and Chipchura will see full time action. Hopefully Markov will be given a long-term deal and a big name D-man willl be signed to make our defence as strong as our revived foward lines. With Komisarekk looking like star and O'Byrne and Gleed on the horizon we've got a monster starting six coming up even without outside talent coming in. This year could be great but no matter what, next year will be even better. A year that will hopefully see #19 hanging from the rafters of the Bell Centre

hab fans ABSOLUTELY LOVE to have underacheivers to ***** about..... I have 5

bucks on sampsonov:banana:

What I am loving about this team more than teams of the past is our young players that know how to play a great defensive and offensive game. Players like Perez, Komi, Pleks, Chips, and especially Higgins gotta give any habs fan confidence the future is more than bright in Montreal again.

tinyzombies 10-13-2006 07:59 PM

I don't like our defense, but Carolina's defense wasn't stellar either, but they got the job done. Who knows?

I think our defense will get better as the year goes on. It cant get worse not with Gainey as the GM and Carbo as the coach. Defence will rule.

jordi 10-13-2006 08:42 PM

As soon as we get the stake burning over and done with, it's all fine and dandy.

Nols_bro 10-13-2006 09:22 PM

This happens every year for me, I really love the team at the start of the year.
And yes, I am lovin the way we look right now... but we shall talk in a few more months...

exceptions... Radek Bonk

I love this team. We got a great mix of hungry young players and talented veteran players. Alot of potential on this team from top to bottom. I mean we got the kovalev, samsonov, koivu, ryder who are players capable of doing some great things and can win games by themself on any given night. And than we have the hungry young players in higgins, plekanec, perezhogin, latendresse who have a great amount of potential but most importantly work hard every night. we than have the bonk, johnson, begin, murray, downey players who understand there role on the team. I personaly dont see holes up front. Are 4 lines are well balance lines that can do some damage on the score sheat but can also keep up with any other line in the nhl. The 3rd and 4th line has done a great job on not letting the other team score an important goal. Injury might change the look of the team but so far im loving the product that on the ice.

Well, if Markov doesn't pick up his play, we're doomed. Or if we get an injury and Niinimaa has to play top 4 minutes, it could get ugly.

Carbo can definitely make adjustments to keep us competitive though, no doubt. No team is perfect, just have to stay in the hunt this year and you never know.

Bulis and Sunstrom were good at the little things; Higgins and Pleckanek are very good at the little things and much better at greater things.:yo:
