I'm sick of the Quebec sports media

... especially RDS. All they talk about, ever, are the quebec players, nothing else. They talk about any team and for sure they'll bring up the french guy on the team. It gets annoying. Sure, it's good to "represent", but it'd be nice to hear more about the other 95% of players in hockey.

I totaly agree but it's acceptable. The only reason they talked about Buffalo last year ws because they had Briere, Dumont, Biron and Roy. Same can be said when they talked only about Tampa a couple of years back (Lecavalier, St-Louis, Perrin and RIchards to an extent). It is expected though.

Pascal 10-18-2006 07:14 PM

After talking about Lapointe for 5 mins yea.. oh and Denis Savard, after an interview with... Vermette.

VanNistelrooy 10-18-2006 07:15 PM

RDS is a Quebec media.

99,9999% of their auditory are Quebecois.

RDS is provided everywhere in Quebec, from Gaspé to Amos.

Don't you think that aiming the Québec population by talking of Quebecois before anything else is juste "normal" considering that the majority of them WANTS to see the Quebecois who are playing in Nashville, San Jose, etc ??

That is just lunacy!

MoonlightGraham 10-18-2006 07:15 PM

I have to disagree about that. Of course they may talk a little bit more about the players from Québec, but I don't see it as a problem. They're the biggest stars in Québec.

Do you have an example in particular? Is this about the Canadiens' players from Québec or about the players from Québec who play on other teams?

He just needs the bounces to go his way. He has hit 2 posts up to know. Half an inch in the other direction and both of those shots were in.

But again, in this new NHL, you have 1 chance every how many years to say hi to Quebec players, it's normal to talk to them. Sure if they would have a special on Vermette every time we play against them, that's a problem but not in that example...

Was nice hearing Adrian Aucoin talk French, this guy never uses it and still has a nice tone doing it.

The NHL has maybe 50 quebec players in it, why should they focus all on them? For many people RDS is the only sports station they can watch (a lot don't speak english too well), and all they're fed is stuff about players from here.

Ever since I watched english coverage a lot more, I've learned and got exposed to so much more different hockey knowledge.

Again I ain't against a more quebec-tilted coverage, but it's ridiculous at this point. It's ALWAYS about the Quebec players, and if the guy doesn't speak french, they barely get any coverage. Hockey is a lot more than that.

It's not a reason to always overate the french guys and always talk about them. I want to heard about Seabrook and Havlat more then Martin Lapointe... Any french guy are god beside Euro and that's annoying.

Obviously old Jacquot is only looking at stats to talk that way and that's a little sad. Sure we would appreciate a goal or two and it will come I agree.

That wrister was wicked....

Well RDS had a small interview with Havlat (really really small) and have no idea who Seabrook is.

MXD 10-18-2006 07:22 PM

Well... They interviewed... Martin Havlat at 18:30. They can't interview every player, and they took Lapointe because he's well known here. The casual fan, and even the casual RDS interviewer doesn't have a clue about Seabrook.

If you want an interview with... heaammm... Brent Seabrook, head for Chicago...

Wait.. There's a blackout in Chicago for broadcast, right?

If it snow 4 inches in Toronto the CBC will have it on the national news, if it snows 8 inches in New Brunswick, it never is in the news, why? Because they know their primary market, Toronto. Similary with RDS, their market is Quebec and French Canadiens.
