That's optimistic.

Les Ouragans 10-25-2006 10:57 PM

Probably, although someone said he was to start "practicing" with the team next week.

Obi Wan LaRosie 10-25-2006 11:15 PM

can anyone tell me what he said on the broadcast tonight? I was in a bar and had no volume here in Florida. was hoping he would be back just after thanksgiving. any hope of that?

He said he has been skating and has taken a couple of tumbles (onto his shoulder  ) with no problems, so next week he is going to begin practicing.

He said the standard "I feel pretty good, I can't wait to get back out there" yadda yadda yadda stuff. He looked really healthy though, so its good to hear that he is already skating and will be practicing soon!

bubbabalue 11-08-2006 11:57 PM

Has he been practicing the past little while or did they hold off on that?

Cory Stillman, who underwent offseason shoulder surgery, participated in some power-play drills Wednesday but has not been cleared for contact yet.

I heard he's back first week of December. Is that true?

It's looking really good at this point. We couldn't need it any worse than we do right now.

No. He's still not cleared for contact. My guess is he'll lose the blue jersey by the start of December and then it's another couple of weeks of conditioning before he's game ready.

scottie_08 11-25-2006 07:35 PM

any idea who he'll end up playing with once he comes back?

Hmm it's a guessing, but I could imagine him lining up with Staal and one of Williams/Walker/Letowski... I think it will be Walker

A couple of weeks of conditioning? That's what he's doing right now. He's out there in the non-contact jersey so he can get in shape and be ready to go as soon as possible.

Ok, maybe conditioning isn't the best word. Point is he's going to have to start getting hit. He'll start out getting hit a couple of times then they'll followup with him to see how it feels the next day, then more contact and repeat. Point being that he's got to start practicing in more game like conditions. He currently does not participate in all of the drills.

There has also been some talk the Canes may start him off in a more limited 3rd line role rather than immediately throwing him out onto the first line. Let him get his game legs back first. With so much talk about "when Stillman gets back", hopefully he doesn't feel a lot of pressure to be an immediate impact and try too hard.

read on rotoworld that stillman is now skating without the blue jersey...i am considering using up my trade topick up walker..how do you think stillmans return will affect his numbers? what position is stillman/waler?

Walker is a RW while Stillman plays the vast majority of the time on the left. If (as speculated) Stillman returns to the Staal line, where Walker is currently playing, this could be a bit of a boost for Scott accually once Stillman is back in game shape.

Just as an FYI, that had more to do with the drills they happened to be running (he wasn't going to be at risk). He's still not cleared for contact yet.

Laviolette said Stillman will return to action on the road trip, barring an unexpected setback. He has been stepping up the hitting in practice since he was cleared to resume contact last week.

"It's possible I'll play by the end of the road trip," an optimistic Stillman confirmed.

TOML 12-03-2006 10:48 PM

Awesome.

Having a point-a-game player back in your lineup will help out quite a bit.

The news said this morning he could be playing as soon as tonight in Calgary!

robotron2084 12-05-2006 12:44 PM

Forslund said he expected Stillman to not play until Friday against Vancouver. He did not skate yesterday as he has a slight hip issue.
