if niko is injured..

for a long time with his knee, would lacroix be interested in yanic perreault? we have seen what having a solid faceoff guy does on the pk and late in games.

what is yanic's salary?

is he available?

does he have NTC? would he waive it to come to colorado?

what would the habs want in return?

any interest?

montreal 11-23-2003 05:42 PM

You can have Perreault for very cheap I would think. He doesn't have a NTC either. It was only for the 1st and 2nd year. He's not as good in faceoffs this year, with the pucks being dropped from higher up.

Edit: He's still very good on draws though, just not as good, or so it seems I don't know what his numbers are.

A 2nd rounder would be a sweet return in my mind but a 3rd rounder would be fine with me.

Unless you want to unload that Morris guy on us :p ;)

Are you sure about this? I heard last night during the Canadiens vs. Oilers game the broadcasters saying he still had a no trade clause. Were they going on bad info?

Perreault is still #1 in the league this year at 64.4%, almost 3% higher than the #2 in the league.

They are wrong. He had a NTC, he doesn't have it anymore.

Traitor8 11-23-2003 07:06 PM

yannick Perreault does NOT have a no trade clause

it was only for his first 2 seasons in Montreal, his third year wasn't included.

And who wouldn't waive it to go to Colorado???

devilman 11-24-2003 03:52 AM

Perreault and Brisebois

for

Skoula and 3rd rounder

my 2 cents..

The Avs aren't going to acquire Brisebois and his inflated contract...simply won't happen.

DRL 11-24-2003 07:21 AM

well krestanovich has been recalled today, so niko will be out at least for awhile, no announcement on how serious yet.

what centers are available who might interest lacroix?

the body count continues to pile up:

kariya out indef.
forsberg indef.
worrell should be back in a couple of weeks, he is currently skating
hahl and svatos are out until at least march
larsen groin injury was reinjured so he'll miss at leat a week or more
brigley is day-to-day
and now niko could miss 2-4 months if it's a serious knee injury.

the avs bottom lines look pretty week right now:

krestanovich-mccormick-hinote
mcallister-moore-cummins

and i am guessing mccormick or hinote will center the kono-selanne line which means i missing someone maybe brigley is back for the next game?

DRL 11-24-2003 07:24 AM

just wanted to add:

2 avs scouts were at a sabres/lightning game, doesn't buffalo have a surplus of forwards? who's available?

or maybe lacroix was scouting tim "the toolman" taylor, he would replace niko on draws for the time being and when or if the team is ever healthy would make an excellent 4th line centermen.

for

Skoula and 2nd rounder

It just wont happen. Souray has been our top defensemen by far, and is the only guy that has size and uses it, which we sorely need more of. We just can't trade Souray unless we get something similiar in return, and with his injury history that won't happen, so we can't move him.

That works for me. Drop Skoula and add a mid pick would be even better. I'm not a big fan of Skoula's. Traverse is brutal, you can have him for free.

Hmm.. I'll give you Halpern for a 2nd or maybe just Skoula?

When Kariya comes back you can reunite Kono and Halpie (who are great together). Throw Niko back there at center later on and its an all-Caps 3rd line and an excuse for me to cheer for the Avs!

Considering we have five picks in the first three rounds, I'd trade a 3rd for Jeff Halpern, but not a 2nd.

And...

Konowalchuk - Nikolishin - Halpern

...is an above average third line in my books.

is halpren available?

i would do either one of those trade ideas and i am sure most avs fans would agree.

can halpren play center, the avs are a little short right now.

would mcphee be interested in dealing with lacroix again?

Halpern plays center and right now is our best center at winning draws. The only problem with him is he gets thrown out of the circle way too often. And I'm not sure if he's available, but I would like to give Sutherby or Gordon a chance to play 3rd line center.

Right now I don't think Montreal would do Souray for Skoula + 2nd rounder.
