Pool question :

who should i pick, Malkin or Brière ?

!nkubus 10-27-2006 02:03 PM

if you have a Salary cap I say Malkin, If you haven't I say Briere

Twister mtl 10-27-2006 02:05 PM

each of them are worth around 5 million

Hugh Madbrough 10-27-2006 02:05 PM

Malkin.

Shabutie 10-27-2006 02:06 PM

Malkin. The guy is playing with the best player in the league.

Blind Gardien 10-27-2006 02:08 PM

Keeper league? Malkin. League which carries players over into the playoffs and the playoff championship matters to you? Maybe that's when Briere gets interesting? :dunno:

Unless the Pens make the playoffs which is entirely possible ;)

only for the season

pavlako11 10-27-2006 02:13 PM

Malkin, this kid was the leading scorer last year in the league he was in (Russian Super-League?) He's got the goods, and there's a lot of good young talent on the Penguins

Habsfan18 10-27-2006 02:15 PM

Which one of Jagr, Ovechkin or Thornton got traded to Pittsburgh? Crosby's very good, but hardly the best player in the league... yet.

Very possible they make the playoffs... but I still take Briere to potentially go all the way in that scenario of picking for a pool with playoff connections.

Crosby is the best player in the league, especially since he's playing with Malkin. He turns nobodies into instant scorers. They ripped apart Jon Madden, arguably the best shutdown forward in the league, and Martin Brodeur, a sure fire hall of famer. These kids are something very special and if you get the chance to watch them play in person you'll probably share my opinion.

coolguy21415 10-27-2006 03:22 PM

Well I've been watching them on TV, and nothing they've done has inspired me to believe he's the best in the league. I agree, he's an exceptional young athlete, but it's premature to label him as the best.. yet.

Also, Madden is hardly the best shutdown forward in the league anymore. His style hasn't adapted well to the new rules.

Nope but he his better then Ovechkin:sarcasm: . Ovechkin is the flashy player, but Crosby is more complete all around

coolguy21415 10-27-2006 03:53 PM

There are serious parallels between Crosby and Ovechkin and Gretz and Lemieux. It will be very interesting to see how, Ovechkin in particular, develops.

12pts in 8 games and he just started playing with a skilled linemate in Malkin...The guy put up 100pts with nobodies for the majority of last season... I've seen 3 pens games this season and he has looked better than Joe, Jagr or Ovechkin. Give it a few months and you'll see that both of these guys will be atop the leaderboard.

imnothere 10-27-2006 04:29 PM

Evgeni Malkin.

Crosby's been better than Ovechkin for a while now, and I expect the gap to only widen, slowly but surely. But yeah, Jagr is probably still better. Thornton is a big puss though, the Thornton we see racking up 2 assists a game in the regular season isn't the Thornton we see in the playoffs.

I guess Zubrus setup all of Ovechkin's goals :sarcasm:
