Interview Questions for Kyle Brodziak & Ivan Koltsov

I will be at the WHL/Russia game on Wednesday with access to the practice in the morning and the players after the game. If you have questions for either of the two Oiler prospects playing, please post them here.

No promises with Koltsov as I have no idea if he can even speak English or if there will be a translator or anything like that but as always... I'll try.

For Brodziak:

To what do you attribute your hot start to the season?

Were you dissapointed at being selected so late in the draft?

When do you think you'll be able to challenge for a roster spot on the Oilers considering you impressed quite a few people at this years camp and had a good game against the UofA?

to both Brodziak and Koltsov:

- Which current NHLer's style do you model your play after?

To Koltsov:

- You've been under the radar since you were drafted. Is there a chance that you would come to North America in the next few years?

To Brodziak:

- Did being drafted late provide you with motivation to show everybody that you can play?

brodziak

Is your strength defense or offense? What was the feedback from the oilers in terms of what you had to improve to take to the next step.

Are you working with a skating coach? How would you describe your speed?

Does the fact that your size and age might mean a legitimate shot at a starting job with the oilers next year give you any special motivation or is toronto more realistic?

What is yor current height / weight?

With the great play of yorself, Fleishman, and brodeur, can the warriors win it all this year?

Currently, you are second in the WHL in goals and points. Is this a surprise to you? You have almost as many points so far this year as you did all last season. Have you set any numerical goals for stats this year?

For either brodziak or koltsov.

Who is your favorite oilers player/s?

Does the oilers organisation keep in touch with you?

Brodziak:

Did you expect more from yourself after slipping into the later rounds? Is that what is driving you to succeed this year?

Who as a player do you try and model your game after?

What do you think about joining an organization like the Oilers, and what it means to your career to be drafted by a team with that kind of history.

Koltsov:

What are your biggest strengths as a defenceman? Weaknesses?

Do you think you will be able to adapt to the speed and ferocity of the NA game?

Oi'll say! 11-25-2003 05:32 PM

I haven't seen Kyle play b4, I noticed that both he and T Fleischmann are listed as centers. Which is center, which is the winger?

I thought that Kyle was playing center there but I could be wrong for the first time in my life (again).

Brodziak:
Did you have any indication going into the draft that you would be picked so late?
Where did you expect?
What is your goal for next year?
What would be a succesful season for your team this year?
Who did you look up to in your first couple seasons (who had the biggest impact) on you?

Koltsov:
Do you hope to come to North America in the near future?
What are your personal goals for this season?
Do you speak with the Oilers org. reagularly?
Who was you're favorite Russian(or any nationality) hockey player growing up?
Do you think the Russian hockey program for minors has improved or declined since your time in it/since the break up of the U.S.S.R. ?

I was able to talk to Brodziak for about 15 minutes on Wednesday in themorning when they were scheduled to practice.

The Russians were not at the rink though and Koltsov was not available after the game.

Sorry guys. 1 out of 2.
