Burke w another loss in Springfield

Quote:

SPRINGFIELD - When he last appeared in a game for the Springfield Falcons, Sean Burke was chased from his cage after he allowed four first period goals to the Manchester Monarchs. Was that any way to treat an 18-year NHL veteran? Burke was treated rudely again by the visiting team, but this time it was a five-goal third period that carried the Worcester Sharks to a 5-2 American Hockey League triumph over the Falcons before 3,378 at the MassMutual Center.

Check out these quotes:

Quote:

"This was embarrassing," Burke said.

"I've got to make some of those saves and give us a chance to win the game," Burke said.
This tells the whole story:

Quote:

The Falcons (10-10) are 8-3 when Ramo earns the decision and 2-7 when he's not involved.

At this rate we are stuck with Burke with no relief in sight.

P.S. Burke does suck now.

We can hope that Burke's pride kicks in and he just retires. Between his age, injuries, poor performances, and relatively large contract, he has to realize the chances of a NHL team wanting him are almost nil. His only shot would be if he can go on an extended hot streak leading up to the trade deadline, possible, but doesn't look likely. If he can't be convinced to retire and he can't excel at the AHL level by the trade deadline, I'd send him to the ECHL, as I'd rather have Boutin/Coleman get more AHL minutes.

The ECHL might get him thinking retirement, so perhaps send him down now. I don't know Burke personally, so I don't know if that will work. Depends on his pride, whether he invested badly- he may need the money, if he still thinks he can still play at the NHL level, or he wants to do a Gordie and just keep playing somewhere for the love of the game.

I would send him to the ECHL, Boutin or Coleman can't be as bad as Burke.

No, Holmqvist sucks. We need him back in Tampa. What the hell is the matter with you Patrick?

Bish Please 11-26-2006 08:50 PM

Ok Debbie.

holmqvist does suck! We NEED to bring Burkie back! He's the only one who could keep us in the playoff picture all year round. He's far better than the two idiots we're calling goalies. He's the best, end of story.

Sean Burke, 39 years old, supposed NHL caliber goalie "who could keep the Lightning in the playoff picture".

Burke's AHL stats:

7 GP, 345 MINS, 2-5 RECORD, 26 GA, ZERO SO, 4.52 GAA, .855 SV%

Karri Ramo, 20 years old, 1st year pro in North America:

Ramo's AHL stats:

14 GP, 749 MINS, 8-3 RECORD, 36 GA, 1 SO, 2.89 GAA, .911 SV%

Those are Ahl stats they mean nothing in Burke's case. Burkes Nhl stats are like Ramo's of the AHL for his whole career. Burke is probably a little down , being that he hasn't spent much time in the minors. I think they should recall him on re-entry waivers and let the yotes pick him up as a fill in backup.

Sean Burke is great. :loony:

I wish you were an NHL gm.

I'm just having some fun. i don't want another 40 year goalie on the coyotes, it's bad enough with Old man,Joseph.

Actually, I love Sean Burke. He the best goalie who ever played for the coyotes , outside of Khabibulin. He is close to rapping up his career as is Curtis Joseph. I wish the yotes would have kept him ,instead of getting Cujo. The yotes were offered Comrie and they couldn't refuse the deal. It is sad however, that Burke has to end his playing career in the NHL. I would love to see him , in a yotes jersey again but I don't think it will happen.

boltsgirl41922 11-27-2006 07:32 PM

I like that view - Burkie is the best goalie ever :D

Angel of Music 11-27-2006 07:37 PM

Leave Burke alone. I would like to see any of you have an NHL career close to what he had. This summer I wanted Snow to take him over Dunham.

DARIUS KASPARAITIS 11-27-2006 07:59 PM

Snow should have taken Burke; he's the best goalie ever.

DARIUS KASPARAITIS 11-27-2006 08:01 PM

Sean Burke was amazing when I first became a hockey fan, and he still has all my support, he's just upset he's being handled this way.

Bish Please 11-27-2006 08:34 PM

It must be nice to be playing pro hockey for almost 2 million and be unhappy.

Maria 11-27-2006 09:18 PM

Where did all this "i love Burke people" come from?? Face it, he did not help the team, don't compare Johan or Denis to him, they give us a chance to win every night, unlike Sean or JG. Just move on, they're both out of here for GOOD!!

missK 11-27-2006 09:30 PM

IF Burke is "upset" he should be playing better in the AHL to show the Lightning they made a mistake and to showcase himself so he gets a chance to get traded elsewhere. He shouldn't go to Springfield and roll over. The trade deadline is fast approaching and he should be working for the chance to get traded somewhere where he could get back in the NHL for a last hurrah.

But again I guess the Lightning are sooooo terrible for treating him so badly by sending him to Springfield to ride the bus and collect all those paychecks totaling $1.6M. ;)

Well none of us ever will make the NHL. We're fans and criticizing or praising players is what fans do. You don't have to have a career in the NHL to do that. Burke had a successful NHL career your right, the majority of Lightning fans just don't want to see him on the Lightning anymore. I think most of us (except for one) are happy with the current goaltending situation.
