Fedorov at the deadline
I think Fedorov's at the last year of his contract...(Please correct me if I'm wrong!)
Now I'm really thinking ahead here... If we want to take a shot at the Cup (which I wish we did every year ;-) !!!), and we still need a decent 2nd line centerman (which we probably will), I would definately consider trading for him a couple of weeks before the trade deadline. Although he isn't what we used to be. He is still a leader by example, a great 2 way player, and a proven playoff performer. |
I don't see him as the answer. He's surrounded but great young players in Columbus and he can't seem to get it done. I think the solution is elsewhere.

Fedorov has crossed my mind but I forgot about that thought when I found out he is owed a 6 million dollar cap hit next season.

I didn't know about that...thanks tugs |
Federov's cap hit is so big that if we acquired him at the deadline, we'd need at the very least 1m cap space (correct me if I'm wrong). Also as Tuggy mentionned, the guy is on the books for one more season.

No more passive Euros.

Fedorov is 38 and is paid over 6 million. He used too be one of my favourite center, but not anymore. Too old. Too pricey.

If we're gonna get a Euro, let's get a tough one please or one that can score in the playoffs. Maybe Federov has another playoff run in him, but he can't even make it through an early regular season game without cracking a fingernail. I don't think he's interested anymore. He's won his Cups, but he's just not stupid enough to walk away from $6 mil a year. |
oh just think about it we could play Fedorov in between Kovy and Sammy and they could skate even more circles around center ice!:sarcasm:
No thanks. |
But at this point, isn't he just a more expensive Bonk? There should be better rentals out there at that point.
|
The extra year at 6 million is a deal breaker.
