Official Game Thread: NYR-PENS

Two points tonight is a must. Pittsburgh is an AHL team right now, and no Mario either. This is what the lines will probably look like tonight...

Rucinsky-Holik-Kovalev
Hlavac-Nedved-Lindros
Simon-Messier-Barnaby
Ortmeyer-Lundmark-Scott

Leetch-deVries
Malakhov-Mironov
Kasparaitis-Poti

Dunham

Hopefully Sather rolls 4 lines just as he did when Lindros was centering the 4th line.

Fire Sather 11-28-2003 09:06 AM

Anything less than 2 Pts in unacceptable like you said. Id love to see those lines... But Lundmark on the leftside would be sweeter.

---They're a bad team allright, but not to be taken lightly. Their last 3 games were against Jersey, Philly and Ottawa, and they came up with 4 out of a possible 6 points. They may be short on talent, but Eddie-O seems to have them working pretty hard. This is exactly the type of game that the Rangers have had trouble winning in recent years, so a win tonight would be nice.

SingnBluesOnBroadway 11-28-2003 10:39 AM

I'd like to see the Rangers come out hitting like they did against Tampa and Florida.

barnaby63 11-28-2003 10:43 AM

5-2 rangers.

(Poti,Kovalev,Simon,Ortmeyer,Rucinsky)

(Malone, Morozov, Straka, Fata)

this is the type of game that scares me too!! as sbob said, we need to come out hitting hard and often! anything less than a win is unacceptable! i'm quite nervous about this game!!

n8 11-28-2003 11:49 AM

5-3 rangers

holik, kovalev, lundmark, lindros, poti

morozov, koltsov, berehowsky

Usually I'd be nervous that we'd get a total letdown in a game like this, but for some reason, I'm not nervous this time. Maybe thats because for the first time in a long time, we have 4 lines rolling and playing well all at once. Our defensive pairings have been pretty stable lately, and it looks like Leetch and Malakhov are finally starting to come around. Plus we're getting solid goaltending and 60 minute efforts, at least close to it. If theres anything Im worried about, its Fleury coming in and making 55 out of 56 saves to avenge his bad performace against us last time.

Fire Sather 11-28-2003 12:30 PM

This anit your 02-03 new york rangers.

NYR- 6 (Messier(2), Kovy, Lindros, Leetch, Barnaby)

PIT- 3 (Fata, Straka, Malone)

Evil Sather 11-28-2003 12:42 PM

Rangers come out storming, but the Pens go up 2-0 after weathering it and carry the play till the 3rd, where a furious rally is stoned by Fleury. I don't know whether to call this theory pessimism or realism with this team.

2-2

Morozov (2)

de Vries, Holik

rangers 11-28-2003 12:45 PM

Pens - Rangers 5-2

Worked last time! :D

Son of Steinbrenner 11-28-2003 01:31 PM

rangers win a in a rout 6-2
hlavac lindros nedved poti messier malakov

Barnaby 11-28-2003 01:46 PM

What the heck.... everyone else is giving it a shot.

4-2 Rangers win

Fleury - Over 40 saves

Holik-Nedved-Kovalev-Leetch all score.

Morozov nets at least 1 for Pitt

Unthinkable 11-28-2003 01:48 PM

Anyone hear if Dunham is starting tonight for sure?

LondonFan 11-28-2003 02:25 PM

pre-game radio show

Cool! We actually got the pre-game show on the radio stream tonight! Sounds like no Messier tonight (with his play lately, I'm not gonna cheer). I've gone for Dunham in my fantasy team, so I'm going for a SO tonight!

ihatenewjersey 11-28-2003 02:26 PM

nyyfan2 11-28-2003 02:55 PM

Fire Sather 11-28-2003 02:55 PM

Started off a tad flat and were being out worked, seem to have calmed down now, Pens trapping well so far.

Yeah flipping useless radio show. Oh well. 1 shot so far - excellent! Horay for Lundmark being in there. Hopefully he got the message from management: Either score 4 and set up 2 tonight, or he's outta here.

LondonFan 11-28-2003 03:00 PM

What happened to Dominic Moore?

Fire Sather 11-28-2003 03:06 PM

Kovalev to Rucinsky!! another pretty goal setup by Kovalev.
