I'm surprised at how bored people are at the CBC . But this is hilarious! :biglaugh:

Duceppe will make reference to that sim game in one of his pro-sovereignty speeches.

I'm intrigued with the idea, it would add some interesting competition. haha, but I think it's interesting that they actually went to such extents to sim a game using an Xbox 360.

Souray on team Canada!

I just wrote a huge thing on it as a facebook note, but i will give you the jist.
First of all, most of those Quebec players would probably not even play for that team, most notably Brodeur who rejects the whole notion. Second of all that Canada team is just wrong by all means, I would change it. But lets assume these are the teams and it happened. Speed vs skill, and in the new NHL regulations, speed kills. Those Quebec forwards would skate around the Canadian ones like nothing. I mean Briere, St. Louis, Vermette and Begeron against Nash, Thornton, Sakic and Shanahan? Ouch. The defence is crap for Quebec though. Top pairing of Beauchemin and Boucher vs the likes of Niedermayer and Pronger? Hmmm, not even close. Canada's bottom d-man is better than Quebec's top. The real difference maker is the goalies. Quebec's bottom goalie is better than Canada's top (I'm assuming it's Giguere and it would be against Turco - one was a game away from the Stanley Cup Finals and won the Conn Smythe, the other chokes in these pressure situations). And according to this, Brodeur completely stole the game. But this is one game, I assume a 7 game series would turn out very differently. |
Héhé,
We used to do that on NHL 1994 with my roomates. You needed to work a hell of a lot on trading the players from one team to another, but it was fun. We had Mario and Roy in Quebec back then, but deef was fairly sad. Of course Bourque saved the day a little but we had to include Brisebois in there to get the quota right... gulp! |
Souray should've gone in the shootout. ;)
