We need a top 6 winger!
 

I think our need has changed from a 2nd line center to a top 6 winger to play with Heatley and Spezza, or play on the 2nd line if Alfie is put on the first. We will go nowhere playing 3 lines every night, and we need to put Kelly back on the 4th with McAmmond and get one of McGrattan or Hamel in the press box.

Personally, I think Doan with Spezza and Heatley would be just great.

Add Naslund to that list, he should be available at the deadline.

I'd still put Craig Conroy near the top of my list. He can play RW with Spezza and Heatley and if Vermette falters at 2nd line center, he can go there too. Cammelleri is also an option, but I'd prefer to go with a veteran.

Muckler needs to bring in a forward soon because the top 3 lines are going to be worn out by playoff time, if we make it.

I can never get the positions straight in Ottawa, between the LW and RW's. I think Spezza and Heatley need a veteran player who's a rough kind of guy who works well along the wall.

Someone like Neil would be nice with them. A Fisher like player would work.

At least this years list includes tough players with some experience, not guys like last years list. I'd like any of the guys that play a tough game.

Bertuzzi would be great, but he'll be signed in FLA..or else they just let a huge part of the Luongo deal walk.


Mark me down for Carter, Tkatchuk, or Bertuzzi. A lot of friction with those last two I'm sure, but in the playoffs you have to check your ego at the door.

EDIT: I'd love Conroy too. Jason Blake is a diving quiff.

There is a distint lack of Martin Gelinas on that list.

He ain't a top 6 anything. He's McAmmond with a few big goals.

He'd be nice, but at this stage in his career, he wouldn't really be a guy who could play on one of the top 2 lines.

If Kelly can play it, so can Gelinas.

I'd bring in Gelinas for the 4th line, but I still think they'd need another forward come playoff time. Hamel and McGrattan are just not that good.

Kelly ain't a top 6 foward, he's a 4th line forward on the first line.

yeah... but the point here is to get an improvement over Kelly.

Jason Blake would be awesome.

I am still loving Roberts, but if you need someone that could help spread out scoring if Alfie gets hurt then he might not be it.

God I would love to see him in a sens uni, he is my new unicorn.

Jason blake would be a great fit with spezza and heatley. He's fast he can pass and most important HE CAN SCORE!!!

I'm not really sold on Doan being the answer. I'd love Jason Blake but right now it looks like NYI might make the playoffs.

We also really need a 4th line that can play 5-10 min a night when needed.

- Shane Doan:
I think that he would be excellent addition to the Sens. Shane Doan has shown that he can step up in the important parts of the season and in tournaments. Coyotes fans are saying that he's an excellent player in the 2nd half of the season. He came up big with Team Canada in international play. I might even put him with Fisher, because SD excelled in the WC, World CH and the Olympics while playing alongside defensive players (e.g. Kris Draper)

- Gary Roberts:
Playoffs warrior...warrior in general. Gary Robert is just one tough SOB, a Power Forward, a type of player, whom the Sens never had. A leader and a proven winner. He can line up anywhere from the top line to the fourth line. I think that due to his playing style he can get under the skins of opponents and gives his team PP's.

- Fredrik Modin:
PF type of player...who can complement a line with talented scorers. Good defensive & allround player, who stepped up during the Bolts Stanley Cup campaign two years ago. I don't expect a lot of scoring out of him, but his allround game should help the Sens.

- Keith Tkachuk & Bill Guerin:
What have these guys ever done in the playoffs? Guerin has won a Cup with the Devs, but wasn't that much of valuable asset to his team in the playoffs during the last few years. Tkachuk would have to waive his NTC. I would deal for him, if I had a deep team already. The Sabres are a much better fit, because he wouldn't be in a instrumental role there. On the Sens he would carry a much bigger burden.

- Marco Sturm:
Great allround player. A speedster and a good PK. A leader for Team Germany in International play. Marco Sturm has scored key goals for Germany, but don't expect him to be a scoring machine. Might not be that that expensive.

- Jason Blake:
A fast forechecker suddenly becames a scoring leader for the Isles. Would bring a lot of energy to the team. I only wonder, how he would perform away from Ted Nolan. I think it's unlikely that we can get him. 1.) The Isles are one point away from the Top8 & have a few games in hand over the Division leaders NYR 2.) Ted Nolan might ask Wang and Snow to not help his old enemy Muckler to benefit from having one of his players.

- Sami Kapanen:
Vice versa Christoph Schubert. Kapanen is a winger, but also played some defense in Philly. Injuries have slowed down this once solid player. A versitle guy like him could help the Sens. Just look, what happened to the Sabres in the EC Final last year. They lost three of their starting Dman and that's a time, when Kaps could be really useful. Stanley Cup experience with Carolina.

Never thought of that before. And so ends my hopes of getting Jason Blake.

I'm more interested in leadership ability and killer instinct than people with pure offensively ability; we've tried that in the past and it never seems to work.

I'm voting for Gary Roberts as my number one choice for the first line (with Spezza and Heatley) and then Martin Gelinas to play on the fourth-line with Chris Kelly and Dean McAmmond (I want a serviceable fourth-line for once).

Ontop of that, a shutdown defenseman would be up there, too.

I can't think of too many players that are on out-of-contention teams and are reasonable in terms of money and what Ottawa would give up.

Ottawa really needs some veterans above offense, though.

I completely agree with that. A couple of players with leadership, can skate, and chip in that all important goal now and then.

I like Roberts. Hope JM wouldn't mind dealing with us. :innocent:

The big problem with making projections right now is that most teams are still very much in the playoff picture and probably unwilling to trade key parts of their team.
