Weekes, the game's No. 1 star, came within 10 minutes of his 20th career shutout. Defenseman Michal Rozsival scored in the first period, and center Michael Nylander tallied the eventual game-winner for the Rangers in the third period, but the man of the hour was Weekes, whose performance led the Blueshirts to their third consecutive victory.

LETS GO RANGERS!

Finest 12-21-2006 09:10 AM

Well the good news is the Rangers are still leading the division so in turn they are also in 3rd in the East. The bad news is that they gave the two teams in 2nd and 3rd place 2 juicy points to once again have them nipping at their heels. Chalk that up to injury's or illness or whatever else you want to heap on there, but the fact remains that they didnt get it done. Now they have a chance to get another two points and increase the lead in the division. They should have Henke in net so hopefully he is ready to go and firing on all cylinders. Cullen will be back, hopefully he can regain the scoring touch he had to a degree during the five game streak and work well with Immo and Prucha on the second line. We shall see how much time Isbister gets tonight if any at all, I kind of doubt he will be out there for longer than 4mins but who knows. They need to win this game and then go into Tampa with a win under their belt. This is the last game of the season series between these teams unless that is they meet in the playoffs so it would be nice to win the series. Lets Go Rangers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You think we'll see Isbister in place of Orr? Knowing this team, he will probably replace Prucha. Let's win please.

SO you think the lines will be something like this?

Shanahan - Straka - Jagr
Cullen - Immonen - Prucha

Hossa - Betts - Ward
Isbister - Hollweg - Hall

Pock - Roszival
Tyutin - Ward
Kaspar - Rachunek

Lundqvist

??

Chimp 12-21-2006 09:42 AM

Rangers leading the division doesn't say that much. Devils are behind by 1 measly point with 2 games less played, Islanders are behind 3 with 3 games less played.

And when, not if, we lose the division title, we drop (not so dramatically, luckily) in the conference standings. The NHL of mediocrity makes snatching a playoff spot harder than ever before with all extra points given out after all ties after 60 min.

What's the word on all our sicklings? So, Lundqvist is back, he must have battled the flu, since I consider it impossible to be 100% after so few days. Nylander still out? Damn. Damnation indeed.

I would think so only because Nylander is still out :dunno:

dank 12-21-2006 10:11 AM

the awful thing is you realize very obviously how meager our center corps is.. yes, our defense is awful, but since they are mostly 5-6 guys, interchanging is not so harsh.

but you take Nylander out of the lineup and we got nada..

NYR94 12-21-2006 10:13 AM

Injuries and illness have screwed up the lines so much that I'm not even going to complain about it. Just win the game.

In The Flesh 12-21-2006 10:13 AM

I have a feeling the skid continues tonight.

trench23 12-21-2006 10:59 AM

LETS GO RANGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Need a HUGE point tonight to maintain somewhat of a lead for 1st. don't normally do this, but im betting Prucha scores to get things started:yo:

But Michael Nylander, who has missed the last two games, headed to a doctor for tests yesterday because the stomach flu he can't shake has morphed into an ear infection. If he is cleared, he might join the Rangers on Saturday

Maybe Saturday in TB

Without Nyls, probably 10-0.

No faith tonight :dunno:

It's the Panthers first home game since December 12-three road trip

Martin said Ed Belfour would be back in the net tonight against the Rangers for his fourth straight start.

Belfour is 2-1 in his past three games, and 6-8-2 overall, while Alex Auld is 6-10-4

Center Stephen Weiss and forward Juraj Kolnik will be out again tonight, Martin said.

Wow, I've not seen a team calling for us to win so lopsidedly since...um I don't know Philly? Seriously though I'll be surprised if the Panthers can keep up this output, though they have certainly been playing well of late even with injuries.

Either way, this is our last matchup of the season guys, I can't believe it'll be over already. Rangers/Panthers games are always entertaining at least from my standpoint and I'm hoping for a full house tonight (likely half or more than half Rangers fans due to the vacationers especially). Nylander is a big piece of your team though I get nervous everytime Jagr touches the puck. Also if do you lose, just blame it on Isbister ;) Good luck, guys.
