Mr. Gainey

Is Bob back yet and does anyone know when or if he will be back ?

Toro 12-30-2006 01:13 PM

ya he went quietly back to work. its nice that the media has left him alone...

GSK* 12-30-2006 02:08 PM

Off topic, first Good Luck to Bob Gainey and happy new year.

OT: Viktor Kozlov isn't so bad for a centre that nobody want him, he's good in shootout, 13-11-24 in 36GP with +12.

Is he a winner? Oh ya...okay. He's too streaky: He has a game of 4 goals. He's soft as Jan Bulis. We want a kingpin as center (Sakic, Forsberg) nothing else.

emb24* 12-30-2006 05:38 PM

francois gagnon reported last monday in la presse that gainey was back in the office - i think as of the 18th...the 17th there was a private memorial for laura

Bob's back at work

Today a co-worker of mine passed right by Bob Gainey while he was entering the Bell Centre... so I don't know how long it's been since he's been back, but he's definitely back now.

Just saying.

Move #1: call-up Lapierre
Move #2: waive Murray
Move #3: beat Samsonov up to wake him up
Move #4: threaten Kovalev to trade him to Philly if he doesn't show up.

What do I get for leaking the news early? Anyone want to buy me a beer?

It's a snip on Mr. Gainey coming back. Perhaps he came back around the team then and really started working again now?

According to Associated Press and NHL.com, Gainey is an Hall Of Fame DEFENSEMAN. In this age of Streitism, we are now learning that Bob Gainey was playing D all along. Could have fooled me.

Principal Bob Gainey Is Now Present

Let's see, Bob returns to his duties tonite (good on him btw), glaring down at the boys from the top of his perch at the Bell.

Behold, Monsieurs Kovalev, Samsonov & Plekanec, feeling the glare and the wrath that M. Gainey has and tonight anyways, they decide to be good pupils and start playing hockey.

hmmmm . . . . . why?

Could it be that Bob won't think twice on pulling the trigger on a trade to a non-playoff team to get a performer. That being said, I don't think any one of that second line or Ryder for that fact really relishes the possiblility of being traded to a non-playoff team and playing the season out on a team destined for the cellar.

If they only performed well tonite because of Bob's presence, then obviously they themselves would have admitted that they could have been doing far better and that does not excuse the second lines pathetic performance so far this year.

Is it to late for one or two players to show their worth?? Who knows, all I know is Bob and Guy won't stand by and let absolutely nothing happen.

Now lets see who really wants to stay here . . . .

From seeing Kovalev play last night, that has already happened.

Welcome back Bob. Attention all hands, Captain on deck!

Mr. Gainey has until the trade deadline to evaluate the team and decide if it's realistic to 'go for it'. The major problem is the cap, a player with a substantial contract would have to be moved to seriously upgrade since we can't even call up Lapierre at this time. IMO Samsonov is the one who really has to prove something, everyone else we know what we can expect in the playoffs even if they haven't had a good start.
