The youth speeding and driver surviving stuff happens way too frequently. I live in British Columbia and the number of youth drivers speeding accidents were shocking over the past year. In most cases if there was a fatality, the driver survived while the passengers didn't. Most of the time, there weren't even charges laid. Then again, BC Supreme Court has a stupidly low amount of driver charges due to speed(whether it be dangerous driver causing death/bodily harm or manslaughter).
This story is based in New York. Heatley's accident happened in Georgia, where they are a lot more strict in terms of cracking down on the youth speeding stuff. Unless a precedent like this is set in Georgia, you can't really compare it to Heatley's situation.
