OT: Poker games in Montreal?

Anyone know of some good home games or places where you can play hold em? I just read the casino doesn't have it, which is quite sad. :teach:

Bar le Diable ont St-charles blv. in Longueuil is the place to go. 30$ Buy-in, at least 70 persons per tournament (Monday & wednesday).

The Holder of this place is Patrick Huard !

Pascal 01-04-2007 01:39 PM

Sweet. How's the playing there? and what's the payout structure like?

tritone 01-04-2007 01:41 PM

Every Sunday night at my place in Laval :yo:

Pascal 01-04-2007 01:42 PM

Got a lot of ppl playing there tritone?

And can someone explain me why the casino has no hold em games? At least they could have some popular variants of poker, and not just some lame caribbean one.

Last 7 Players are getting money..

Depending on How many players buy-in at the start of the game, the winning pot, for the winning guy is at least 850$.

The structure is Impeccable, Blind raise at each 15 minutes,8 Minutes Break at each 45 minutes. Everything is calculated with a computer, with a huge screen in front.. it's pretty good.

And, we start with 1000 Chips, and i have to say, you have to play the blind, man those blind are constently growing up lol

Casino can't in quebec, cause de Law don't want you to play money against other player ..

Pascal 01-04-2007 01:46 PM

1000 chips only eh? That's pretty tight. Usually online you get 1500.

It sounds good, i'll probably go check it out. thanks :)

Didn't know that... I guess it's okay to gamble on lottery tickets/craps/roulette/etc but you can't play vs someone. :dunce:

I am a degenarate poker player.

www.princepoker.com

visit the forums on that site and u'll find a section for local tournaments and its for the whole province of Quebec but most are in Montreal.

I've been to 8 or 9 of the different clubs around montreal. the only one I dont recommend is Poker Rosemont.

Other then that, they were all alright.

...why doesnt someone organize a HF boards live tourney!

...I was at the casino a week ago and spoke to 2 dealers, both said the hold em in quebec took a step back, and they dont see it comming here anytime soon.

as for the busts at local tournaments.. most of those places on that site collect a small portion of the pot and give it to charity which makes it legal and noone can do nething about it.

they take 2$ from each persons buy-in and do so.

I went with 4 of the organizers once to make sure they do it and they did it.

And I know a guy who rakes in over 50k per month in his pocket by running "charity" tournements and poker games and not a dime to any charity
