Do you think a trade will happen...

Do you think a trade will happen within a week. By this time next Tuesday will Gainey of made a move?

GoodKiwi 01-16-2007 07:26 PM

If we continue losing, why not...?

Bronn 01-16-2007 07:32 PM

Yes and no

There will be a trade before the deadline but not within next week imho.

benji 01-16-2007 07:35 PM

At this point I would like to thnk so, but I doubt it. You never know though.

znk 01-16-2007 07:45 PM

I vote 3. Expect the unexpected.

steve penney* 01-16-2007 07:48 PM

i hope we make more than 1 trade. shake things up a lot. out with all the prima donna players (kovalev) i want miko koivu, i want lecavalier and forsberg.

Toro 01-16-2007 07:58 PM

when the gods tell you, you do not have a chance to win with the current team(we can't get a break, all bounces are against us. A trade is the only thing to do. Pretty much everything has been tried.

I think there will be a trade tomorrow!!!

Hmm, what about The Moon too ?

You know, it's big and glows yellow in the night. Kinda a HUGE super-star. :sarcasm:

Kimota 01-16-2007 08:06 PM

Gainey should have done a trade when we were winning. Because we knew there were problems in the team but they kept sweaping it under the carpet because we were winning. Big mystake. I can just see in a few months from now looking back saying:"he should have gotten that second centerman" back then.

Tuggy 01-22-2007 01:23 PM

Well it's been a week and no trade happened. I'm almost starting to think that Gainey might just stand pat with the team we have(not a bad thing IMO).

cjbhab 01-22-2007 01:24 PM

I vote no, this team has what it takes.

We just beat 2 of the top 3 teams in the EAST.

We are going on a tear after the allstar break. Mark my words.

I don't think it's a bad move. Sure we have areas to improve on, but to do so, we'd have to trade away some youth, which IMO, would hurt us more longterm.

I think the Habs will make a move... although I don't feel a major trade is warranted, I think Gainey will do something. Being from Philly, I have been hearing some talk about Gainey possibly interested in Forsberg. The Flyers and Habs have been trading partners on many occassions... and with Clarke back with the Flyers and consulting Holmgren, perhaps and deal could go down. Gainey and Clarke are friends I believe. Forsberg would be great on the Habs if he could stay healthy down the stretch.

Talent Analyst 01-22-2007 03:21 PM

If Gainey find something good , yes . If not , no !

Blind Gardien 01-22-2007 03:28 PM

Given the earliness of the deadline, the paucity of clearly defined "seller" teams by that deadline, and hence the likely ridiculously-high prices that any "dealine rental" style players might therefore cost in the midst of a bidding war, I would be surprised if the Habs made any trades at all the rest of the way. I'm definitely okay with that. What I'd really like to see though would be at least one new contract plunked down a la Koivu last season. Markov being the most likely candidate, presumably.

68 01-22-2007 03:28 PM

No, at best they will call up someone like Grabovski or Kostitsyn from the Bulldogs. I am sure there will be a trade before the trade deadline though.

Guy Caballero 01-22-2007 03:38 PM

I still think there's a chance the All-Star gathering of GMs results in a trade, and it's better to do it now, from a position of (relative) strength.

Evil Ted 01-22-2007 03:56 PM

Trades do not exist in the NHL anymore.

There hasnt been any big deals really since the Theo and Thornton deals, maybe a couple minor ones. Its more about signing players then anything.

There were few huge deals, but there were about 40 deadline deals last year, with some decent talent moving around.

Agreed...somewhere around mid February...maybe on the 14th BG will get a sweetheart of a deal from his valentine...

Boris Le Tigre 01-22-2007 04:06 PM

no deal until the deadline...

baldrick 01-23-2007 10:48 AM

No, I believe Gainey will stand pat.
