Burke on waivers/claimed by Kings

On re-entry waivers. Think this is a sign that SOME kind of move is coming?

Going Back to Cally 01-17-2007 06:58 PM

I hope what happened is the Kings called the Lightning to ask them to put Sean Burke on re-entry waivers. The Kings get a goalie who sucks but still better than having a rookie out there and the Lightning get some extra cap space.

I have given up on a trade happening now, if it didn't happen right after waiving Affy and Karlsson I doubt it happens after waiving Burke.

yeah...trying to get rid of Burke and his salary. I don't see anything happening beyond that.

Which would be mutually beneficial. We'll scratch your guys' back now, if you scratch ours later. (In a future deal)

It's not like any significant move could come after this. It would only save the team between 300-400k.

Kings claim Burke

Good for Burke, good for the Bolts, good for the Kings.

The Burke reign of terror is over!

May we never have to discuss Burke again.

Yzerplan 01-18-2007 11:32 AM

Dean Lombardi....did you ever know you were my hero? You're everything I wish I could be.....so long and good riddance Burke! :)

What a tandem -- Burke AND Clouts! :biglaugh: Thanks, L.A.!

HF02...thread closure? We know what happened now.

NickHanson 01-18-2007 12:12 PM

Bye Burkie. :(

Yzerplan 01-18-2007 12:13 PM

I'd say both sides benefit from this pretty much equally.

Trust me, you won't feel that way after his first start.

Finally this horrible saga in Lightning history is over. Good ****ing riddence Sean Burke.

Agreed. You have almost redeemed yourself from the Boyle comment of a few days ago.

And trust us, it couldn't be any worse than Cloutier, or the kids who we're never meant to be in the NHL in the first place.

You know what? I watch alot of Kings hockey and you MAY just have a point. It still remains to be seen though as far as I'm concerned.

If he's marginally better than the kids, he's miles better than Cloutier and that's worth it in my book.

Burke already got injured.. in his first game. Replaced by Fukufugi.

Fukufuji.

Oh, and although it sucks for Burke and I hope he's okay (a sign that he should retire?) I found that kind of funny.

I just read the recap of the Kings/Coyotes game and found this out too...wow. What would be great is if Brust and Fukufuji were injured too...then they could bring Arturs Irbe out of retirement, or maybe trade for Bobby "the chief" taylor... :biglaugh:

TubbyTerrion* 01-21-2007 01:59 AM

there is question as to whether he was injured or just exhausted. Nick Nickson, Kings radio play by play guy, on the post game show, did not allude to an injury, saying he was just hunched over as if exhausted, and that since Burke "couldn't remember the last time he had played a game" and had to endure the over 60 minute wait on the bench during the Robitaille ceremony, he may have just reached a point where he cramped up and couldn't go any further.
